Read moreWe went there with 5 people and the flair of the restaurant is a weird mix of touristy cheap indian restaurant and expensive fine dining? The decor is fancy (besides the nude/sexual artworks), the location not in the slightest (we sat next to the 5 lane street with all its noise). Staff was friendly. While the food was fine taste wise, we all were suprised on how small the portions where and how expensive it was? We had 3 main dishes and 2 side dishes, each a drink and ended up with 150€ and we all left hungry and went to get something extra somewhere else (and it never happened to me before to leave a restaurant hungry when i ordered a main dish). A friend of mine and i ordered the butter chicken, we both got a small bowl with 4-5 chicken nugget sized chicken pieces and some sauce, and one small bowl of rice. Since we both had rice with our meal we asked where the second one is and we got a second. Later on the receipt we saw that both rice portions where 7€ extra, for a small plain bowl of rice? When we asked why we paid extra for the rice despite it being included in our main dish we were told that the first bowl was already two portions of rice put together and the second bowl were 2 extra, thus we had to pay for 2 portions extra. I had 4-5 tablespoons full of rice??? Honestly the whole experience felt like a tourist trap. The food was good, but not 30€ good for such a small portion of food. I dont understand the other good reviews here, for the same price i usually dine fancy and leave with an empty stomach and dont have the feeling i was billed stuff randomly i didnt order. Definitely...
Excellent service, very hospitable and warm staff that make you feel at home. The ambience is slightly unconventional with an open lay out that kind of makes the most of the available space with mellow lighting. Although the door is slightly narrow, the staff helped us pass the stroller through. Having said that, some food dishes were extraordinary whereas others still need some work. For example, the chutneys were lovely, Sev puri was also great. Koro gassi was unconventional and delicious. The Nan was chewy and taste but was sparingly brushed with butter. Nevertheless, I ordered the Nan again when I opted for home delivery so it wasn't a problem tbh. On the other hand, Malai chicken kebab was a bit tough and insepid. So was the keema paratha which really muted the flavor of a vibrant keema with a thick layer of dough. The paneer tikka and sabji kofta were not worth it at all. The paneer was dry and lacked enough marinating time for the flavors to seep inside. It seems like the paneer may not have been home made. The kofta had a weird combination of sweetness and spice that was totally imbalanced. Samosas on the other hand were an absolute delight. So was a coconut and pineapple mocktail I ordered which might be one of the top five mocktails of my life. On the other hand, the pineapple lassi was nothing to write home about. I am still open to giving them another chance the next time I visit cologne. I do hope they do the necessary work in their...
Read moreI’m an Indian, food enthusiast and recipe creator myself and this is the only india restaurant I dine in or order food from. I have been living in Köln from past 4 years and probably eaten at Kamasutra a 100 times. It has never disappointed me or my friends. Not even once!
Located in the heart of Köln, Kamasutra is a top-notch destination for authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant impresses with its elegant interiors, combining traditional and modern design elements in a clean and inviting space. The kitchen is also incredibly clean!!
The menu offers a diverse selection of Indian dishes, each prepared with care and authenticity. They have really tender meats with rich, aromatic sauces. Vegetarian options are also very authentic. They treat you like family and when you start visiting more, they will adapt food as per your taste preferences. I have not seen them compromising with the quality of ingredients.
Service at Kamasutra is exceptional. The staff are humble, attentive, and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. Complementing the delicious food is a well-curated beverage list.
Kamasutra stands out as the best Indian restaurant in Köln, offering a memorable dining experience with great food, impressive interiors, and outstanding service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic...
