PETER PANE Burgergrill & Bar — Restaurant in Cologne

Service: ⭐ The service is terrible, and terribly slow. It took 45 minutes to receive our entrees, more time for the forgotten side dishes, literally 20 minutes for a single dessert item, and another 15+ minutes in order to pay (we had to ask TWICE). We were at this restaurant for over 3 hours, and trust me, not because we wanted to be.

Food: ⭐⭐⭐ There is something for everyone on the menu, gluten free options, etc. There's an additional charge for the Angus burger, but that's probably the one thing I don't regret paying for. The Angus burgers are good. The cocktails are good too. But the side dishes and the dessert... those leave a LOT to be desired. None of it quite justifies the price.

Atmosphere: ⭐ It looks nice, but the music is so loud you can't hear the person sitting directly next to you. (Not only my personal opinion: our table stopped trying to talk because it was impossible, and one of us ended the evening with a terrible headache due to the noise.) The music selection was also weird. Somehow the entire experience was nothing like what I thought it would be from the pictures: this place manages to have NEITHER vibe nor ambience.

Cost: ⭐ For a decent dinner, you can expect to pay about 30€ per person here. You can get way better 🍔 and 🍸 for less 💶 at SEVERAL other places in the same zip code.

I really did not enjoy my experience at Peter Pane and will not be back any time soon. Think twice before you go, because it is an expensive...

I visited for lunch about 2 weeks before lockdown began. I enjoyed the nice decor. Clean, inviting and roomy. The service was good from start to finish. The midday menu special was pretty impressive, drink, burger and fries, and a coffee. However, the menu reads as fresh, although it does not state it. The food was well prepared and plated. I asked for Medium, yet that is not possible with frozen patties, so it came well done.I should have been informed when I ordered it medium. I upgraded to Angus, which is pointless with frozen meat. The cheese sauce was from a can. After one bite I sent it back. Again, prepared well, but not what I expected for €26. No visit from the manager. Cookie cutter chains like this one cut costs by utilising frozen, canned and processed items, yet you pay more due to ambiance and location. We were attracted by the crowd we saw the other night which I do not understand right now. Short story: don't go there for burgers or the meat, only the fries are worth it. Taste good but really not qualitative and disappointing.

Long story: The restaurant was quite empty inside and a bit busy outside. We waited at the door for 5 minutes, waiters passed by us and nobody came to see us until I entered the restaurant. Talked to a waiter and she informed us we can install ourselves. 5 minutes later, no menu so I go and check when another waiter is looking bad at me telling me that I have to wait outside until she allows me to enter the bar, asking me if I talked to her colleague. Fast forward, we get the menu and they forget one more time about us to take the order.
