Black Olive — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

After reading the positive reviews I was very excited to try this place out. Unfortunately the whole experience was not good.

The service took forever: I had to ask for the menu 3 times just to decide what I wanted. Tables remained dirty after so long after we have eaten, there was not enough people working there, they need to hire at least 2 more waiters.

I went for a quick dinner and ended up spending 3 hours there because every step took very long.

The food was ok, not great. And the portions are very small for prices.

The atmosphere is very nice and you sit outside in a charming street. But that alone does not compensate for the rest of the...

After seeing the extremely positive reviews, i came excited after really tough and tiring day. Service extremely polite and friendly, ambiente very nice, dreams coming true. As starter mushrooms in wine sauce, not bad, did not excite me either. For main dish pasta with prawns (see picture)... The pasta was really al dente, i.e. I was thinking, if really cooked or only half wax, the prawns were unfortunatellly on the other side "well done", so i eventually gave up and did not finish the meal.

Other people seemed happy and the price of the meal was also not somehow steep (16€?), so i hope that was a case, where both of us me and the cook, just had...

Parking: not that easy to park. Service: excellent. The waiter was friendly, careful and accommodating. Atmosphere: possible to dine in (indoor). In my opinion, indoor is nicer than the terrace. At the terrace many people were smoking. I understand, in this area is allowed. Still for non-smoking folks is unpleasant. The food was clearly better than a regular Greek restaurant. You could order different Greek specials. The octopus was tasty, so the tzassiki. And the calamares were quite fine. The food a bit into the salty side, for my taste. Good but not stellar. The price is not cheap. Not the highest and in line with others, still...
