Summary: overlooked stale products
Zusammenfassung: vernachlässigte schale Produkte
Provides a large variety of products, from low price to luxury. It has friendly and helpful staffs in the SHOPPING AREAS. It is really enjoyable to walk around in it no matter buying for a party or just some snacks.
BUT, as mentioned by other reviews, it has some issuses, too
not fresh or even rotten food with normal price: it is a common issue for many supermarkets, because it is hard to controll the quality of especially the packed fresh products. I bought a box of rotten mushroom just a few days after it opened for business. I didn't recognise that there were even small inscects flying and worms walking around in the box until I opened it and took a closer look. I was my bad that I was too lazy to complain about this. But I still believe if I did so, I would get a refund or exchange. And I hope they won't prove me wrong in the future.
**2. the SELF-SERVICE COUNTER (SB-KASSE) I am not the only one who had bad experiences at the SB-countor. Especially after you made mistakes and need some help, the staffs there just won't stop complaining even though you apologise again and again. Today, I just came across a problem with coins at the counter, the reaction of the staff there made me VERY UNHAPPY. As we know, the cent coins are very annoying since the amount you are carrying won't always fit the amount you will pay. But you'll still receiving them. So, they just accumulate at your home. Yet, they are still valid in Germany, and not all the banks are equiped with an ATM which allows you to save them anytime. Before, I found it's very convenient that all the counters there are equiped with a electronic coins-countering maschine. So, naturally, I thought that I may have the chance to spend my box of coins once a bit to pay several euros. But it was NOT SHOWN ANYWHERE that the machine can't take a large amount of coins, and there is NO SIGN telling how many coins they will accept for one time. Unfortunately, I accidently spillt the coins from my box into the machine and was trying to gather them back to prevent some possible malfunctions. A lady rushed to me and complained loudly that this would kill the maschine. This attracted the attention of almost everyone arounds and put me in a very EMBARRASSING SITUATION. I mean, I'm not trained at your market as a cashier, and I am not familier with the rules of your store. I am just a customer who carried enough money (saidly in coins) to pay, should I be treated like this? Why don't just put a sign to explain or maybe just buy some fancier coins-counter? After that I kept apologising to her, and was trying to explain the situation, she just didn't pay any attention to me, not even a faked embarrassing smile. So, I was facing the concequence that I may not afford the shopping. However, she was going to leave me with it and walk away, WITHOUT any intention of helping. I asked her, if I could put once a little amount into the machine. The anser was no, not a bit, eventhough almost no coin was already swallowed by the machine due to the spill. Luckily, I found 5 euro in my bag that helped me for getting out of this. My point is, the store looks so good from the outside, and I don't even mind to pay a higher price, SHOULDN'T I DESERVE A BETTER SERVICE? HOW ABOUT JUST...
Read moreRead moreThis used to be my favourite supermarket in Germany. Sadly most of their fresh fruit & veg is now rotten (already in store, visibly) or not available (empty shelf). Even long shelf life items go off within the month (luckily I checked the expiration date and didn't buy). The strawberry banana smoothie at the juice bar was my treat in the end and now they use 2 (!) frozen (!) bananas and almost no strawberries for one small cup for almost 5 Eur. Today the firealarm went off locking us outside which made us exceed our 90 min free parking limit by 20 min (bc we were all huddled in street not allowed to go to carpark) and neither the car park employee nor the edeka cashier or manager (!) were able to solve it so with a 150 eur purchase, plus bakery, plus patisserie, plus juice, plus annoying firealarm we had to pay almost 5 eur for parking for the 20 min overtime caused by their firealarm handling. It is obvious they try to save and make money at every corner but its not how they should treat loyal customers who have done their weekly grocery shop there for the past 3 years. With such product quality and such poor service any other supermarket would be better AND cheaper. Truly...
A few months ago, I bought some expensive chicken from this store. When I got home and opened the packaging it smelled so rotten and spoiled, that I immediately trashed it. Unfortunately, last night, instead of learning my lesson, while in the area and in a hurry to do last minute grocery shopping, I went back there and spent 102€ for a few bags of grocery which included organic tomatoes and two packs of organic meat. As soon as I got home, I opened the tomatoes to put them in the fridge, but found out that they were completely molded on the bottom. And just like a deja vu, I opened the meat to prepare dinner, and found that it stunk worse than anything I've ever smelled.
A complete rip off!
14€ went straight from the shopping bag to the trash can!!!!
I miss America ! At least when you go to a high end Grocery store back home, you get friendly service and the quality you pay for.
