Ristorante Carpaccio — Restaurant in Erlangen

Why did my Google search for the best pizza in Erlangen never bring me to Ristorante Carpaccio? This is a mistake of algorithm that must be corrected. Sure, there is always the good place on Schuhstrasse, but, for an adult dine-in experience, I can think of nothing better than this restaurant.

We made reservations (because we plan our nights out) after having walked past Carpaccio the week before. We were promptly seated, but so was the couple behind us who had no reservation. Our table was well-situated, and we immediately noticed the clearly newly-installed air purifiers.

To say that the service was generously offered, prompt, and polite would be an understatement. The owner, a lovely woman who will remind every Italian of their favorite aunt (or, in my case, cousin), passed by the table often and always had a witty word and a smile. Our server was quieter, but polite and quick. A notable event was when a person at a nearby table dropped her knife. Wordlessly, the owner herself dashed to the table and replaced it with a smile. The other guest was also a foreigner and was grateful for not having to sort out a request in German.

We ordered angus carpaccio, mozzarella-basil-tomato salad, and one each of the wood-oven cooked pizzas. The appetizers were better than expected, being both generous in amount and beautifully presented. I had the Estense pizza and was simply thrilled. Of course, I am a fool for sauce, so there could have been more, but I know this would have wilted the thin and delicate crust.

One real standout was the house primitivo. Bottled in Salento under the restaurant's own label, it was the perfect level of dry with deep flavors that paired well with everything on the table.

There is other good pizza in Erlangen, but, to my mind, this is the best pizza in Erlangen. I only regret that we had not found this place sooner. We will be back over and over to try the chef's pasta dishes.

P.S. - One reviewer said there were no vegetarian dishes. There is one appetizer that is vegetarian, 6 or 7 pasta dishes, and multiple pizzas. Perhaps there was a language barrier or perhaps that person wanted vegan food...

I went here with my colleagues. All people were satisfied with their service especially for a waitress ! She was extremely bright and nice. My colleagues and I were infected with happy virus from her.

All foods were good and I was touched by an ice-cream with espresso. It was super nice as can be seen in the picture.

In terms of price, it is also quite reasonable. A pizza is plus minus 10 euros but size it quite big. Carbonara is also good enough. But I cannot say it is authentic Italian food.

Moreover, I added a video and as can be seen, the place is really cozy and nice. When it come to mood, it should be highly rated.

One thing that I think it is not good is seafood stuff. For me sea food related things are not recommendable.

But except for that overall I strongly recommend you...

Essen schmeckt gut, die männliche Bedienung ist sehr freundlich. Die weibliche Bedienung benimmt sich unter aller Sau und zwar nicht zum ersten mal. Ich wollte ein Gericht bestellen und habe mich verprochen, daraufhin zeterte sie los, was sinora waaaas?? ich verstehe sie nicht... was wollen sie? Ich zeigte auf die Karte und versuchte es auszusprechen... wurde unterbrochen und korrigiert, obwohl ich es einfach nur vorgelesen hatte. Meiner Mutter erging es ähnlich bei ihrem Gericht auch sie wurde korrigiert... danach neues Theman, wir bestellten wasser still, bekamen aber spritzig. Wir fragten nochmals nach stillem wasser ob wir eine kleine flasche bekommen würden, natürlich, sagte die Bedienung, schließlich haben sie ja stilles wasser, warum also nicht. Daraufhin erhielten wir eine neue Flasche, allerdings wieder spritzig. Dem Nebentisch erging es nicht besser, eine dame bestellte stilles wasser, aber bitte nicht kalt. Der Kellner versprach es ihr. Sie bekam nichts fragte nochmal nach und bekam eine kalte flasche mit der begründung, kalt bedeutet eiskalt und diese wäre nur kalt. Diese weibliche Mitarbeiterin lässt ihre Launen an den Gästen aus, passt ihr ein Gast nicht reagiert sie sofort patzig und wird ungehobelt, hat für mich nichts mir italienischem Temperament zu tun, sondern schlechtem Behnehmen!!! Haben uns sehr unwohl gefühlt... EIN ABSOLUTES NO GO! Mitarbeiter coaching wäre angesagt und mit dieser Meinung stehe ich nicht...
