Edit (Feb 2024): Since my original review, my view on Sur Mandir has changed. The service is no longer good, with the older man being extremely rude when ordering in. I took family here as I had good experiences before but I was appalled at the old man’s rude behaviour. He seems to be nice mostly to non-Indians. The food also has become significantly worse, with the curries having texture like baby food and the biryani has also lost its original taste. The samosas remain to be the only nice item here. My recommendation would be to check out the Indian restaurant on the parallel road, they have much better service and quality of menu items. Original: I’ve had food as takeaway from here twice and both times it was amazing. The samosa is amazing and the right amount of the tamarind chutney is served. I’ve got it on 2 separate occasions and it was crispy on the outside and had a good amount of yummy filling. It was not too spicy and that was perfect. The chicken wings are also very good, served with a mint chutney. It’s made like how we make chicken home-style. It’s not battered and deep-fried but rather cooked with spices, aromatics and so on. The only thing I didn’t like was that it not cut in half— the drumette and the wing were as one piece. The best I would say is the mutton biryani. You have the option of picking the spice level and I chose the Mildest base since I don’t like spicy biryani. It really was like a taste from home, with tender, boneless mutton, aromatic rice and flavours. It was served with really good raita and I finished the whole thing myself but it’s probably meant for 2 people 😅 My food was all takeaway but the place looks really nice and welcoming. They have some good drinks and the owner is very nice and accommodating. Definitely recommend this place because even though it’s a tad bit expensive, it’s the most authentic indian food i’ve eaten in germany.

It took so long to get dishes. I tried lamm curry with Indiangermanish level. It was little bit spicy for Korean. Regardless of the spicyness, I cannot say it has a very nice flavor because it had little sour taste and couldn't feel abundant curry spice. However samosa was super delicious! It was the best samosa I've ever had.

The ambiance is very nice, with pleasant outdoor seating included. The food tasted just OK . We ordered a Paneer Sabzi costing 13 euros. It's not a must visit place.

Food was ok, a little bland and spices and salt was not in proper proportion. It appeared like it was done in a hurry. They were accepting card so I didn't check with them specifically. After the check/bill given, he said the card is not accepted. I had no way to keep go to a nearby Bank ATM. He made me keep my Mobile as a mortgage till I come back. I went searching for an Indian restaurant. This restaurant proved that no matter where ever some people go, they won't leave their nature, especially the bad ones....

Firstly , Extremely rude behavior from the old man in the reception. We ordered mid level spicy biryani. The spice levels were beyond the human tolerance limit. My wife suffered from extreme stomach ache due to inhumane levels of Chilli powder in the food. Beyond the question of quality of food, consumption of food has caused a health issue. I'd definitely not recommend you to step anywhere closer to...
