Ciao Italia — Restaurant in Frankfurt

We’ve been here today, group of 6 people. First thing we heard is “no card payments” - which in the airport “restaurant” looks so unprofessional. Then guy behind the till spoke just Italian and hurried up us, as we couldn’t decide what to take cause of lack of knowing German and Italian language - he didn’t advise us what is nice. Food arrived quite quick but it was uneatable. We got Carbonara inside there was an unknowing object, tasting of nothing else but powder and flour. The other dishes pasta with meat was so salty! Pasta with “salmon” tasted like tuna. Worst experience in Frankfurt. Don’t recommend it to...

The food is very good. The service is great too. Very friendly and welcoming. As a restaurant attached to the airport there are no bathrooms and the indoor seating area is a bit small. However there is outdoor seating. It is close to the hotel shuttle pickup point and the food is much better than that found at the hotel. The deduction is mainly because the cook didn't seem to have a face mask on and slightly inconveniently for these new to this place, it is cash only. The prices and portions are good though. Ciao Italia, has been in the same spot outside in front if Terminal 1 at Frankfurt / M airport for over 20 years.

Even though much changes in 20 years, when in transit or connecting flights it is my favourite spot to take a break and not be inside of the actual airport building.

It is surrounded by heavy construction for a long time in middle of intense hustle and bustle - this does have its impact on the overall experience... however it can be perceived as an "oasis" given the circumstances and your own...
