Kanonesteppel — Restaurant in Frankfurt

The food was very good, it was delicious and a good way to experience German traditional dishes. However, the treatment was not that good. We were 12 and they put us in a very small table, although we had made a reservation two days before. We were very uncomfortable. Moreover, the waitress new we had no idea of German and she gave us the menu in German which we later discovered she had some in English. During the dinner the waitress didn’t really pay much attention to us and she responded a couple times with very disrespectful and mean comments. Last, when we asked for the check, they gave us the check and told us we could only pay with cash, no one had told us anything before and the amount was very very high. They don’t have any single sign anywhere in the restaurant that and when we told the waitress she showed us the menu where it was written in small, but as I said before, we don’t understand German. If she had given us the English menu at the beginning maybe we could have seen it, but she didn’t and she didn’t tell us. We felt very disrespected and mocked. My worst experience in a German restaurant. Food is really bad, käsespätzle comes without a sauce, just a stack of melted cheese on top, and the Spätzle itself was not at all original. Tartar is a dump of minced meat, should have been sold as Mett instead of Tartar. They couldn’t serve still water, only sparkling. So I asked for tap water, they said they can’t do that, the pipes are too old. I couldn’t have a süßgespritzter Apfelwein, they only had Fanta but no sprite. We couldn’t pay by card, they take only cash - the reason? This is a payment method that’s in circulation since 1906. No wonder, it seemed like they were stuck and didn’t improve since that age. I have visited this restaurant several times. The food was great, and most of the staff were friendly, but there was one staff member who really made me feel bad.

She had black hair and dark skin. While the other staff members kindly brought us the food and drinks we ordered, but she always pretended not to understand our pronunciation. When I ordered more beer, she didn't come back, even after I asked several times and she repeated the word "beer" herself.

When I saw her being friendly to the German family sitting at the table next to us, even bringing water to their dog, I thought she was being racist because we were Asian.
