Rude and aggressive treatment from the staff!!!! The restaurant felt very much like a tourist trap. Overall, average food, terrible service and shady behaviour. I would go for the other alternatives in the area. Keep reading for our unpleasant experience 👎🏻
We ordered food and drinks. They were ok, but nothing exceptional. At some point, the waitress suddenly started to be friendly and asked us about where we are from. We had a nice chat. Right after this, she brought us desserts that we didn't order. She explained that they were traditional German desserts. We naively thought it was complimentary and ate them. Then the check came and the desserts were on the bill. We asked them about it. Then another waiter came to our table and VERY AGRESIVELY told us that they "accidentally" brought the desserts to our table, but since we ate them we have to pay for them. (he said this in German even though our whole interaction was in English till that point) We protested however we did pay for everything and left. Yes, mistakes can happen, and we did eat the desserts, but their approach to us as customers was just unacceptable. There are a lot of tourists in the area and it is possible that not everyone fully understands exactly what they order since the menus are in German. It seems like they take...

While searching for authentic German food in Frankfurt, we stumbled upon Zum Feuerrädchen Ferd. Hofmann near the Main River.
The charm and character of the place were evident just from the exterior. Although we arrived a bit early and the restaurant was still preparing, they kindly let us in.
The owner, who strikingly resembles Sylvester Stallone, was very friendly. After discussing with my wife, we decided to start with beer, Apfelwein (apple wine), and some sausages.
Since we have a famous coarse-ground sausage called “Schauessen” in Japan, I pointed to something on the menu labeled Schlachteessen●●, thinking it would be similar. However, what arrived was a large assorted meat platter (laughs).
In the end, I told the owner that I still wanted sausages, so we ordered them separately — and they were excellent.
The Apfelwein had an alcohol content of around 5%, light and very easy to drink. They offer it in a set of five glasses or by the pitcher, so it’s dangerously easy to overdrink if you’re not careful.
Delicious German beer, Apfelwein, and what I felt was the best food I had in Frankfurt — we left the restaurant fully satisfied and...
Read moreThere are such interesting waiters working here that you wonder how they can still manage to run this place with such rudeness and aggression. I hope you read my comment before dining here, so you don't experience the unfortunate incidents we went through. After our main meals, the waiter brought two desserts to our table (even though we didn't order any). She explained that they were special German desserts with unique ingredients. We thought it was a friendly gesture, and the desserts were offered as a treat. However, when the bill arrived, the desserts were also included. When we mentioned that we hadn't ordered the desserts and believed they were complimentary, the male waiter started shouting at us in a very rude manner, insisting that they mistakenly brought them to our table and that we had to pay for them because we ate them.
Mistakes can happen in any establishment, but we were genuinely shocked by this behavior. The echoes of those shouts still resonate in my mind: "you eat you pay, you eat you pay." There are similar places around, so please avoid going to this rude establishment and save yourself from being taken...
