Amara — Restaurant in Freiburg im Breisgau

Amara is famous for its expensive food, which didn't make sense to me until this summer (I lived for 4 years in Freiburg, I'm Turkish and I know what a good döner should be like, look like and taste like), since their döner was not so different than any other in town and their portions were smaller...BUT, since this summer the meat quality has improved tremendously. this is the closest döner to the actual, original Turkish döner. If you want to have the true Turkish döner experience, order your yufka (actually it's dürüm but lets not get lost in semantics) with onions, tomatoes and parsley only and drink...

These are the freshest and probably the tastiest kebab rolls I have ever tried. I have heard they make their own kebab, the meat is high quality better than anywhere else.

Nevertheless the workers who prepare the food are unfriendly, you don't always get good service there. Sometimes you will get a big roll and other times you will get a small one Sometimes they are friendly and sometimes they are annoyed by you before you even order the food.

There is no consistency on the quality or the good service. That's why I think twice about going there, I don't know...

We ordered 2 wraps, one chicken and one beef. I am so surprised that the outside wrap is handmade right now when customer order. The skin is so good and inside are full of fresh veggie and juicy meat. I like the chicken more than beef, because chicken is more juicy. ( beef is crispy but too salty for me) the sauce is so awesome in the wrapper. It must be the highlight. For me chicken is 5 stars and beef is 4 stars. Strongly...
