Là Phin Café & Bar — Restaurant in Hamburg

Tasty, healthy but not overwhelming food. Free complementary water. I tried the vegan avocado burger and the coconut matcha coffee which came in a stylish glass. The flavor grows on you but I could not taste any condensed milk in it whatsoever but then again, I don't know what ratio to the rest of the ingredients it's supposed to be. There were some instagramable neons on the walls with some plants and cute Christmas decorations but I feel like as Hamburg is pretty grey around this time, switching the lights on would improve the atmosphere. It's spacious and cosy otherwise and the style of the previous owners has been taken over to some extend (it used to be a vegan cafe before). Very visible waterspill from the previous person wasn't whiped off my table. I sat somewhere with 4 seats as the place seemed relatively empty and the light was ok for photos but was moved to a two seat place, which was ok (they took the cup but didn't wipe the table). Recently visited Là Phin Café & Bar in Eppendorf, and it instantly became one of my favorite spots in Hamburg. The cozy, modern vibe and the aroma of freshly brewed Vietnamese coffee make it such a welcoming place to relax.

The brunch menu was another highlight. Everything looked beautifully prepared, and my dish tasted as good as it looked. I also appreciated how many vegan and vegetarian options they had — it’s clear they put a lot of thought into catering to different preferences.

We found some of the staff’s not attentive and busy with their mobile and not checking customers for their needs. Overall friendly but service could have been better. It did get a bit busy around brunch time, so I’d recommend coming earlier if you want a quiet corner.

Prices are fair for the quality — not cheap, but worth every euro for the flavor and atmosphere. Overall, Là Phin Café & Bar is the perfect spot for a relaxed brunch or a great cup of Vietnamese coffee. I’ll definitely be...

3 Sterne – „More espresso, less impress-o“

Ein wirklich hübscher Laden – modern, stylish und mit einem Leuchtspruch an der Wand, der mir direkt ins Auge fiel: „More espresso, less depresso“. Leider war meine Wirbelsäule nach dem Sitzen anderer Meinung. Die Rückenlehne war so hart, dass ich mich kurz gefragt habe, ob das Café heimlich auch Chiropraktik anbietet.

Zum Essen: Ich habe mich vom „Must Try“ Eggtasy Lemon Bite mit Lachs verführen lassen – optisch top, fast schon Foodblog-tauglich. Der Lachs: großzügig. Die Avocado: frisch. Das Brot: süßer als meine letzte Beziehung. Und dazu diese Honig-Zitronen-Soße – für mich eher ein No Try. Aber hey, Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Ich halt mich das nächste Mal lieber an etwas mit weniger Dessert-Vibes zum Frühstück.

Zum Getränk: Der Phin Milky Coffee – nennen wir ihn „Die Überschwemmung“. Der Schaum sah aus, als hätte jemand Cola mit Milch gemixt (kein Wunder: bei kaltem Eiskaffee mit Milchschaum entstehen grobe Blasen, die sich nicht stabil halten). Auf dem Weg zum Tisch verlor das Glas mehr Inhalt als ich Vertrauen in diesen Drink. Geschmacklich? Eher süße Milch mit Kaffeeschatten. Kein Hit.

Zum Service: Leider war auch die Stimmung eher auf Sparflamme. Kein Lächeln, keine Emotion – eher Android-Betriebssystem. Und wenn das Handy wichtiger ist als Hygiene an der Theke, frage ich mich, ob das Getränk einen Selfie-Filter hat.

Fazit: Schöner Ort zum Fotos machen, aber fürs nächste Mal hole ich mir vielleicht doch lieber ’n belegtes Brötchen beim Bäcker – da stimmt wenigstens die...
