Piri Piri Hamburg — Restaurant in Hamburg

Went inside the restaurant at 7.10pm and we order 2 plates of food and water,...after 30 minutes (no food on the table, just water), I had to approach the waitress and order some appetizers. After more 30 minutes (!!!) still no food on the table. After 1 hour and 15 minutes (!!!) I ask if she (the waitress with dark hair and a kind of tatoo on the back of her neck) could predict how long our food will take. Her answer, literally, was: "Man, you don't see that we are full?!" and, immediately, turned her back and walked away. I couldn't believe that behavior! How can someone behave that way, when a client wait, patiently, for more that 1 hour and 15 minutes for 2 plates of food?! Very rude. Not even: "I'm sorry, I will check with the kitchen and let you know"...just turned her back after a very unpolite answer and walk away. The mood for our family dinner was already destroyed, before the proper dinner even start. By the way, during the meal, no one asked us if everything was ok.....basic rules from gastronomy. On top of this, a very poor ventilation system, that forced me to bring home a mix of smells from the food...and the water price, 4.50 euros for a jar of water without any brand. Just a transparent jar. Luckily, I saw on time, that they charged an extra jar of water...but well, mistakes happen...and I will never repeat the same mistake again and go back to this restaurant. Detail: as you mentioned, answering to my review, after 10 minutes a basket with bread was at the table. That was our meal highlight. Unfortunately not enough to save our awful experience. Lets start saying that we came there upon a recommendation.

Unfortunately the tapas that we ordered came without any bread. We saw that the other tables had one. The waiter told has that he just forgot. The main dishes where delicious and we enjoyed a lot. Unfortunately the had a confusion with the potatoes and we need to wait for them, but it was fixed quick. When we asked for the dessert menu, he brought it to us and told us that they had one 1 of the 4 desserts on the menu, we skipped. The staff need to be warmer and more expressive. I felt that they didnt care so much about our feelings...

Hospitality and presentation is good, but still i feel really sad. At the start we got water and a basket of bread with garlic butter. This was presented as if it was on the house and a very warm welcome. But when i received the bill, i saw i had to pay for the basket of bread and the water (€7,50). This feels like a rip off and gives the experience a bad after taste. I did not order the bread, so why make your costumers pay for it? Same goes for the water, if you offer it, its really unfriendly to charge 7,50. Really really saddening.
