Everything originates from something. There‘s nothing free of heritage, everything is in dependence to something else. Buddhists call this principle „dependent origination“. It‘s a fundamental, physical as well as mental, law of the universe. Every change to your physical being has a cause that causes the condition you are experiencing. And any mental phenomena, whatever appears in your consciousness, has a cause as well.

The law of dependent origination is also known as „emptiness“. Practically, everything is empty in itself. What‘s friendship? Going deeper into it, we‘ll quickly realize it‘s just a word, just an idea. We understand it as our relationship to another person. But what‘s that relationship? Isn‘t it simply a collection of shared experiences? Experiences in virtual and real life? Going to a museum together, talking on the phone, playing sports or visiting a restaurant, chatting over dinner? Friendship itself is entirely empty. Joint moments cause it to exist, cause us to come up with a word to describe „it“.

Friendship needs to be activated, it needs to come to life. It originates in dependence to another person. Outstanding eatery + daily changing menu + great inviting Art Nouveau interior

Brücke is one of the best eateries in Hamburg. This little gem located along Isestrasse between metro station Hoheluftbrücke and Eppendorfer Baum within in the Art Nouveau neighborhood of Eppendorf.

Because of its limited seating I highly recommend to make a reservation. Brücke is perfect to get together with friends. I wouldn’t hold a business dinner here because it is too small to keep the talking private.
