The restaurant is quite hidden away from the food street in the center, and it is tucked in a cute street where you would think that you aren't in Hamburg center anymore.
The restaurant is quite small, but has 2 dining areas so I think big groups can also book here. Staff gave off a cool vibe at the beginning, but then warmed up at the end.
Their menu is pretty small and actually doesn't offer any anything more special than other Korean restaurants in Hamburg. In their winter menu they have Sundubu, Korean chili warm soup, which is sadly only served from October to March.
Food-wise overall, it's OK. Veggie umplings are small and you would like them if you like chives. Bibimbap has loads of ingredients and the sauce tastes well-balanced. Kimchi is tastyyyyyy!!!
They only have 1 option of sauce for the fried chicken. We asked our fried chicken to have separate sauce, and did receive it. Chicken is cripsy, however the batter is pretty thick. Sauce is soy-based and tastes OK.
Overall, a cute diner with young staff. Can drop in if...

I recently visited San Restaurant in Hamburg and had the pleasure of trying their 제육볶음 (spicy stir-fried pork). As a Korean food enthusiast, I can confidently say that the dish was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The flavors were authentic, perfectly balanced, and truly satisfying.
What made the experience even more intriguing was the unique twist of incorporating German ingredients, such as local green onions and kimchi cabbage, which enhanced the dish in a way I hadn't expected. It was a fantastic fusion of Korean tradition with a local touch.
The service was also exceptional—attentive and friendly, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.
As a Korean "pro eater," I can say without hesitation that San Restaurant is a must-try for anyone craving authentic and well-prepared Korean cuisine in Hamburg. Highly...
Read moreA very small Korean place but full of flavour. The kimchi they give you from the start is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. no other words needed. We ordered bibimbap and ramyun, oh what a feast for our senses. We also had korean fried chicken. The rice in the bibimbap was soft, fluffy and well integrated with the rest of the ingredients. The vegetables were exceptional. The ramyun was also remarkable, the broth could use a bit more seafood flavour in my opinion but it doesn't let you down, oh no, quite the contrary. The service was incredibly fast and kind. The one and only "bad" thing is that they only take cash, that is unfortunate and in our century in a city the size of Hamburg, unforgivable, to...
