Took my wife out for her birthday to this restaurant after reading all the super positive reviews. And according to the reviews, I guess we just happened to have picked a bad day. Anyway, the staff was very nice. We were greeted very friendly and got a nice table outside. I ordered a "Filetsteak" and my wife a "Rumpsteak" -- both were requested medium. The rump steak however turned out too well done (at least medium well), the filet steak turned out ok. Usually we wouldn't be very fussy about something like this but we figured if we pay 36 € for a steak then we should also be able to expect it done just right. So, when asked by the waitress if everything was ok, we pointed out that we weren't fully satisfied. She was very nice about it and did not hesitate to have a new piece of steak prepared for us. Apparently it just happened to be that there was a rump steak that had just been prepared on the grill so we hardly had to wait for the replacement. However, this time the steak was very rare. At first I didn't want to mention anything since I felt kind of embarrassed (I do not like to be a complainer). But the meat was really not the way I enjoy it so I asked her if she'd be so kind to have it cooked a little more. Again, she was very nice about it -- no discussion. End of story: We weren't impressed at all with the steaks. Despite not being done right, the meat also did not strike us to be what you would expect for this price (and according to the reviews we had read prior to our visit). We've had more pleasurable steaks for half the price in other restaurants. Then two of the three side dishes (greasy sauteed mushrooms and fried potatoes) were very mediocre -- the spinach was the only dish that I thought was enjoyable. Also, at the end a salad that I had initially ordered but never was served was listed on the bill. Of course we didn't have to pay for it but it fit in with the rest of the experience we unfortunately had...
Read moreThe owner should learn how to run a business. We asked if the only Rioja on the menu was the Rioja they displayed at the bar and this was confirmed by the waitress. We ordered a couple of glasses but on the bill it was charged at 11 instead of 7.50. Complaining about the difference in price the owner appeared and started an argument about us being cheap and that the waitress is new and apparently didn’t know what she was talking about. Apparently the wine we got was superior but not on the menu??! Still arguing that this is not our problem, she actually had the nerve to tell us that she never want to see us again at her restaurant. Surprising that this restaurant survived this long time having such a horrible host serving just a steak...
Read moreDropped by this place last night.... We were given a table with others which we have experienced in Hamburg already (seems the norm) but we like to mix with locals. The service was outstanding!! And if you have come here then you have visited for the meat... We ordered 2 t-bone steaks and added some sweetbreads to be served with... these were very good!! Not the best I've had but good... came to 188 euro with wine! Call it 200 with tip... that's 2 adults and 1 child with no starters so if your on a budget be cautious!! We always look at it as an experience and we enjoyed it a lot... expensive but big believers in you get what you pay for maybe not just in the food but the whole experience. We would re-visit so that speaks volumes......
