Gallo Nero — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Male waiter tells us to pay and get out ! Had the worst encounter with a waiter that I have ever had in my entire life. We sent back the saffron risotto as it was extremely salty and undercooked at that. (Only mentioned the saltiness to the waitress). Also did not ask for it to be removed from the bill just sent it back. Then a male waiter who was not serving us comes up and informs us that the chef has verified and tasted the risotto and reconfirmed that it’s not salty. Telling us what we should be tasting, he raises his voice and speaks over my husband. When he walks away he says to our original waitress ‘to have us pay and get out’.

Wouldn’t have bothered to write a review if this guy wasn’t so rude for no reason. We were so turned off, we immediately stopped eating and drinking whatever was left on the table and paid the bill in full. Not to mention we had just received our mains and glasses of wine. Zero attempt to smooth over the terrible behavior and subpar food.

Since you’re reading the tomato soup was too salty, the table bread was dry (no butter offered), risotto salty and undercooked, rice was tough.

Should have known it was a no go when the menu had spelling errors.

Would NEVER return to this establishment nor could I ever recommend it. There’s a great authentic Italian restaurant just a 8 minute walk down the road called Ristorante La Vite that was absolutely amazing, great food and great service. Super kind people. . Actually came here and ate a pizza after LOL.

The cozy Italian restaurant in the Bergheimer Straße attracted my attention by its outer decor and charming interior. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. The bread accompanying our antipasti variation and grilled large shrimp (the shrimp were outstanding) wasn't fresh. We were served butter having been unable to find real olive oil to replace the vegetable oil served at the table. Although exceptionally friendly, only the male wait staff were properly dressed; the woman's fingernails were even upsetting. The Pizza we ordered came only after reminding the staff that we were ready for the next course; but the quality of the ingredients thereon (especially the apparently frozen shrimp reflecting "de mare") weren't of a quality matching the price. VERY RUDE WAITER!!! We entered the restaurant and the waiter offered us a table outside on the terrace. After just 10 min, while we were decising what to eat, the rain started shivering. The waiter asked us if we want to go inside, we refused because you could bearly feel the rain drops and we thought it wont’t last long. He told us that we don’t matter, HE doesen’t want to get wet!!!! Don’t need to mention that “the rain” stoped the moment we entered inside. Didn’t even start!!
