Anh Ba — Restaurant in Heidelberg

This was the first Vietnamese place we tried during the time we visited Heidelberg.

My boyfriend found the restaurant and we had high hopes because at that point, I was a bit desperate as it had been days since the last time I had Vietnamese food 😅.

▪︎ Atmosphere The restaurant space in my opinion is quite small, we came around 17:19 I believe. The weather outside was very hot. There was no fans which made the inside the restaurant a bit unbearable too. Thus, I gave the atmosphere 3 stars. Maybe I am just a bit spoiled on this, please do not take me too seriously. The experience could be a bit better.

▪︎Staffs We came at the time every staffs busy filming their tiktok I assume for the restaurant. Most of the time they would be outside. Despite that the food came very quick. Was fun to watch how they tried to make the tiktok. I had a lot of respect for everyone who filmed that day because again, it was burning hot outside 🫠.

▪︎Food My boyfriend ordered Bun Bo Nam Bo. He liked it, very refreshing. The fish sauce in his opinion was about right. I ordered the Bun Cha Ca, I must say I was so surprised seeing this on the menu. I have not seen this dish on the menu in restaurants I visited in both the Netherlands and Germany so far. Naturally I ordered it because it is one of my favorite back in Vietnam and I can not make it myself 😅. I wish I have Mam ruoc to eat together with it. That would be perfect.

♡ In sum up, we liked the dishes. And we will come back again ... when the weather is...

The food was very good and very qualitative. They have a very good presentation of the plat and very good sauce with it.

Unfortunately, we arrived at our reservation time and the restaurant was not opened, they were still cleaning the floor and they were letting their kid playing with a ball inside the place. Also, our table was not prepared, the waiters did not excuse themselves to opened that late and they were not friendly, neither smiling.

But as we said, the food was very qualitative and tasteful.

But really the problem is the service and the awareness of your own business. If you’re not able to respect your open hour, you should at least say sorry to let your clients...

During our short stay in Heidelberg, a little less than 2 days, we came here twice. If they would have opened on a Monday, we would have waited a few hours to have the last Phở Bò and Bún Cá before leaving the city. We are so convinced that Germany in general, Berlin specifically, serve the best Vietnamese food outside of Vietnam, if not better. But still Anh Ba is a pleasant surprise to us. Although not the flavors we were looking for, but all the dishes we ordered reminded us of the flavors from Hanoi. We did love the food here and we were really happy of our two dining...
