Overrated to a large extent. I am a traveller who is always in the look for some authentic cuisine of the place. After some search, I zeroed in on this place as it was near to my place of stay and boasted of local cuisine. Some reviews also mentioned that this place has the best fried potatoes. Now, let me put up the details.
The restaurant is nicely located and Google maps is the best guide. You can easily see a few guys smoking just outside the restaurant. We did not need a reservation and I guess it's perfectly fine to plan for a walk-in. As soon as we entered, we looked for someone who can help in settling us down a table. There is no reception as such and with luck I found someone who helped us find a table for the night. They have a English menu. We ordered a Schnitzel and a large salad with fried turkey meat. The decor is good for a nice evening hangout. Each table has a cute little candle to freshen up your mood. They don't have regular water. So, you gotta buy a bottle of water which tasted more like sparkling water without the fizz. They provided a salad starter for free which seemed pretty interesting. The fried potatoes were too hot when served. The chef doesn't have an idea about the temperature at which food must be served. You don't give it right out of the pan. The pork in the Schnitzel was too dry. It should be rather juicy. The coating could easily break down which should not happen. But, the salad was a big disappointment. It was exactly the same as the starter salad with additional fried turkey and bleu d'avergene cheese. Dressing also similar. All this for 30 euro did not seem right at all (water for 5euro). No spaetzel on the menu. No cream sauce servings. Not the authentic German cafe experience I had in other cities. Do give it a pass and look for...
Read moreI have not been so dissapointed for a long time! Before going we checked raiting in Google. Seemed "sehr gut" , that why decided to visit this place! But it was bad idea to visit "Schwarzer Peter" after restaurants called "Roten Ochsen" and "Schnitzelbank". I ordered in every place Maultaschen, that why i could compare. So in "Schwarzer Peter" Maultaschen seemed to be not home made, but bought in supermarket! Wine/cheese souce didnt look like wine/cheese souce! About taste you can forget! Again some powder-souce from supermarket!
My friend took sausages and famous "Schwarzer Peter" potatoes!
The only thing what had taste was potatoes! Now i understand why visitors write almost pnly about potatoes! Only they have taste!!! Sausages are made of soap 😁
So! I have mo reason to recommend this place! Our bill was 25 eu. And it was for not qualified food.
Service also could be better. We were finished our food, glasses were empty, and nobody came to us to ask if we would like to drink and eat more. Of course we wouldnt like to eat more, but at least to pay and...
Read moreI visited this restaurant around 7 PM, encouraged by the many positive reviews. I had heard great things about the service and the food, so I was genuinely looking forward to the experience.
Unfortunately, something disappointing happened upon arrival. We came as a party of two. However, the staff told us the restaurant was “fully booked.” Yes, the place was lively. But there were clearly plenty of empty seats—both inside and on the terrace. And it was only 7 PM. Still, the staff insisted that there was no room for the two of us in this spacious restaurant. Now, I should mention that we are Asian. Of course, every establishment has its own policies, and I fully respect that. Their decision is absolutely fine, and I’m not here to criticize. The reviews are great, so I’m sure the food is excellent. In fact, the guests who were dining at the time looked quite happy.
I’m simply sharing what I experienced—for the benefit of future Asian visitors who may be...
