Restaurant Krokodil — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Difficult to classify as it is really a Garni, there is a restaurant, however there is also a 'disconnected' feeling about it as there is no direct access and one has to leave the Hotel to enter the restaurant. The room was absolutely only standard at the middle of a standard scale, noisy with window open, bathroom not really that modern even had an infrared light in the ceiling for heat and as such not effective at all. No escalator, you have to carry your bags up stairs to get to the reception and then up some more if you are not on level 1. Breakfast was really poor with Bread rolls of the type found in motorway reststops and not really tasteful at all. The parking is minimum 80mtr away so if you have traffic unloading your car at the Hotel could cause grief with perhaps other drivers who have no patience. The only highlights for me were the friendly staff and the restaurant does have good food although quite limited with choice, good beer and friendly staff. We have been customers of this place for more than five years. We have always enjoyed the tasty food, but the customer service, especially during lunchtime, is getting worse. It has reached a point where some of the waiters have started using completely unprofessional language (unkind words, shouting, taking unreasonably long times to respond even when the restaurant is empty). More than three times, we had to leave the restaurant after waiting over 20 minutes with no interaction for lunch, no questions asked. Today, after very bad service and good food again :), I am calling it quits...

A cosy German restaurant on the west side of Heidelberg. Th environment inside is very welcome and the hanging crocodiles make it also kind of funny. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Since we live very near we went there many times and also ordered and picked up to eat at home. The food is always very good and fresh. The prices are a bit higher, but if you go to the "Mittagstisch" (lunch time - until 16 - from Monday to Saturday) and order something from that specific list you pay 7,5€ per meal.
