Sushi Bar SameSame Weststadt — Restaurant in Heidelberg

If you love sushi and in Heidelberg, this sushi bar is a must-visit. Or you can visit Heidelberg just for this place.

This is simply the top sushi bar in my list. We visited once 5 years ago and today the quality is still top-notch. No other places come close to the quality this place brings on the table: Pure freshness in each slice of ingredients, regardless if they are fishes or vegetables. The salmon and tuna sashimi were super tender and buttery (salmon). They just melt in my mouth after each bite. Pure taste climax. The sushi rice is well-cooked, soft, and very light sour. The sourness is very faint it doesn’t make me want to throw up after having many bites. If you have been to an all you can eat sushi bar before, you will understand. I have to emphasize again on the freshness of the food. After having the sashimi and sushi here, I went on having waffles with chocolates and cocktails, but my weak stomach is still fine. This rarely happens at other places.

The only downsides I can think of is that this sushi bar is a bit small so you might not get a table during popular times. Also the waiting time for the food is fairly long, but the taste totally...

My review concerns the frequently poor service that others have commented on before me. I have been to this sushi place many times as it is in my neighborhood and on occasion (usually when it is empty) the service is basically non-existent. Today was another one of these days - and certainly my last visit here, as things don’t improve - but remain Same Same. The waitress gave me a table somewhat reluctantly and unwelcomingly and then I sat there for 15 mins with no one attending to the table. I eventually got up and left because I have sat at the same spot at least 20-25 mins before several times waiting to order food. This time I made sure someone noticed I am leaving and told them I was going to try my luck elsewhere. The Sushi at Rewe or Edeka is of fairly close quality to that of Same Same - but the sushi (fresh, creative and super tasty) and service are really good at Schilling’s (at a higher cost, but worth it). Else, the Italian right next door has tasty food and friendly service (with a few seafood options). Same Same may be ok for take away… but then the Edeka is also...

The best sushi that I have had in this area! There is a good selection of different rolls, sashimi and nigiri here. The service was good and the staff friendly. Unfortunately you have to find parking which can be a bit difficult at times, although there are a couple of parking garages in walking distance.
