Cozy atmosphere in the oldest residential building in Kaiserslautern. You step back in time when you enter this half timbered restaurant. The service was wonderful. We went on a Monday night right when they opened at 5:00 and all the tables we saw were reserved. However, we were seated at a table immediately that didn’t have a reservation until 7:30. The server was prompt to take our drink order and switched to speaking German when she heard us ordering in German. This is rare in Kaiserslautern and appreciated. The pumpkin soup was delicious and the farmer salad with bacon and potatoes was fresh and filling. The steaks were cooked a perfect medium and very juicy. The fried potatoes were flavorful and cooked with a little crispiness, not too soft. The price was compared to high quality of food. We left full and happy and will definitely...

Used to be much better. Expensive... They now charge for sides for the rump steak. They also didn't have a box to take the portion we couldn't eat... Not even aluminum foil! Had to waste half a meal that would have been a good lunch tomorrow. (EDIT: yes you did offer to charge for a to go box, which is still unreasonable considering your prices. However the waiter said you didn't have any and when we asked about foil we were told you couldn't offer it. So, again you didn't provide what the customer needed. Seeing how you're so worried about conservation and all you sure didn't mind wasting food the customer paid for! Sorry, you really should be more customer friendly. A meal at Spinnrädl is a guaranteed winner. Whether it’s the regular menu, the local specialties, or the seasonal menus, my wife and have had nothing but consistently great experiences at Spinnrädl for the past five years. The servers are always warm and friendly, and they really do care about their customers’ experience. The produce is invariably fresh and crisp, the food is always delicious and perfectly prepared, and the decor and ambience are charming.
