What a lovely gem in Lüneburg. I was looking for a place to have a quick dinner- on my own. I found it and the dinner turned into a much longer than anticipated joyous experience- not usually what you have when dining on your own. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is really friendly. The menu is not over the top fancy- excellent honest food with locally sourced seasonal ingredients and some lovely little twists such as marinated grapes and roasted cumin with the burrata. As a South African, I found the subtle culinary influences like biltong and Cape Malay curry really interesting- although I did not try these dishes- but there are lovely vegetarian options as well. The kitchen on the ground floor is open to all to see. R&B music on the speakers, disco ball in the toilets - really great combination of old and new. The dishes were kind of the same - fresh, simple, well known but served/ prepared differently. The staff is amazing and the food is to die for from starters, right through dessert & drinks. Our server Reuben was helpful, attentive and a pleasure. To start, I had the artichoke & my husband had the venison liver pate. Incredible. For main, I had the best fish & chips EVER. My husband had the wild boar loin & he said it was excellent.
