✅ Homemade cakes ✅ Nice & quite environment ✅ Kind & friendly service ❌ The coffee (cappuccino) is so mild, it tastes almost like warm water. ❌ The atmosphere outside is nice but overshadowed by big cars parking in front of your nose, close to the sidewalk.
Bottom line, for a café.. The most important thing I'd think would be first the coffee. Here they use a simple full automatic machine with weak coffee beans that end up with a flat coffee experience. The cakes however, are surprising and worth a try.
The "Windbeutel" is a fun thing to eat and in spite of it being mostly whipped cream, it was fluffy and light.

I live nearby and I pass by every day on my way to work and want to grab something to bring to the office. But I don't even bother entering if there are customers already waiting. They might be a bit understaffed (there is just one person selling, making coffee, serving), but also they don't seem to be flexible with how they prioritise customers and orders. The sweets are really good. I don't drink coffee, but I have had tea, which was just a normal teabag in a cup of hot water. Read moreA charming, atmospheric café well-known for its signature pastry – the Leipzig Lark (Leipziger Lerche). The pastry was tasty, very sweet, and freshly made. The coffee was nothing special – just standard from an automatic machine.
If you're a foreign tourist, bear in mind that the staff doesn’t speak English (or at least pretends not to), but it's still easy enough to get by with gestures and a smile.
