L'Osteria Leipzig — Restaurant in Leipzig

Stopped by on a Friday evening. The restaurant was packed.

Ordered 3 pizzas for 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child. Plenty of food. The pizzas were large. I thought it was going to be impossible to finish them. However, they were thin. So, we managed to eat most of them.

They offer the possibility of 2 flavours on 1 pizza. So, half a pizza w/ flavour 1 and half a pizza w/ flavour 2. Free of charge. You pay the prize of the more expensive flavour.

The young man who served us was friendly and attentive. He spoke English very well.

I asked if it was possible to slice our pizzas. He told me it was. But when the pizzas arrived, brought over by a different server, they had not been sliced. I asked the server, a young woman, if it was possible to have our pizzas sliced. She told me to do it myself. I asked if she had a pizza cutter. She told me the knife I had been given was sharp enough. The knife was not blunt, but it was barely sharp enough to cut through the crusts. It was hard work (painful) cutting the pizzas with my arthritis hands.

The pizza margherita and pizza tonno were (above) average. The pizza was thin, but not crispy. (I would have enjoyed the pizza more if it had been thin and crispy.) The pizza was soft in the middle, but not soggy. The pizza margherita was cheesy. The pizza tonno could have done with more tuna and less red onion. It now had too much red onion and not enough tuna.

(Side note: The pizzas are large. And, they do not fit on the plates. In addition, the restaurant has a lot of French/Parisian bistro-style tables (= small round tables) and the pizzas do not fit on the tables.)

Thursday night dinner. 2 adults and 2 kids. The restaurant itself was crowded, warm and welcoming.

The pizzas were huge. We ordered 3 pizzas for the 4 of us. The kids shared 1 pizza. They had a kids’ menu. We initially wanted to order them a pizza from the kids’ menu, but we were told the kids’ menu pizzas were not fresh, but frozen. The pizzas were tasty, but...

I ordered a ceasar salad, a Degli Artisti pizza, Panna Cotta and a glass of Merlot.

The salad tasted literally like nothing. I could only taste the lettuce and the bread. And a salty sauce. Super bland and useless. Who messes a ceasar salad up, come on! I initially wanted Lasagna as main dish but they didnt have any left so i ordered the pizza instead. Omg what a mistake. It was super large, and they dont cut it for you. So weird. We don't need such a large pizza. The crust is way too thin that it was actually totally soaked in the middle. Obviously tasted really like nothing. And to be honest it's not the first time that Italian food especially Pizza turns out bad in Leipzig. I don't know what's with them and the weirdly baked pizza with absolutely no taste. Now Dessert was okay. But in the menu they said "with fresh strawberries". Well it was like half a strawberry diced. Only the Merlot was excellent. As for the atmosphere well it was super loud and the music louder (literally not necessary). Also i didnt like where i was placed. 1 Glass Merlot 1 Ceasar Salad (without chicken) 1 Degli Artisti Pizza 1 Panna Cotta = 39,65€. See im petty cause i wanted to treat myself to a nice italian to celebrate a milestone......

Keine Ahnung ob die beste Pizza wie sie sagen, das ist Geschmackssache, denn jeder mag die Pizza so oder so. Ihre Pizza ist groß, dünn und knusprig, ein bisschen wie in Rom. Mir persönlich ist das lieber als alle diese "wannabe neapolitanische" Pizzeria, die wie eine Epidemie sich immer mehr überall in Leipzig verbreiten, 60 Seconds to Napoli, Only to Napoli, Nuva, Capra usw, mit dickem Teig der schnell gummiartig wird, Scheiben die so schlaff sind, dass man die Spitze schneiden muss ansonsten fällt alles runter, und 5cm Rand wo ich mich frage ob ich Pizza mit Rand oder Rand mit Pizza esse, und die warum auch freaking immer eine Obsession mit "(kalte) ganze Burrata in der Mitte der Pizza" haben, was in Italien nicht existiert und was ich als kompletten Schwachsinn halte.

Also, wenn ihr sowas sucht, das ist der falschen Ort. Hier ist die Pizza wie gesagt dünn und knusprig (dazu auch sehr groß, also es ist nicht dass man weniger bekommt weil die Pizza dünn ist!).

Ich habe die Margherita nicht probiert, wo man am besten die Qualität der Tomatensauce und der Mozzarella urteilen kann. Aus der Rustica her hatte ich den Eindruck dass sie nicht authentische Mozzarella benutzen. Und die Tomatensauce schmeckt nicht "frisch und roh" wie meist (aber nicht immer) in Italien es gerne haben. Also, da finde ich doch manche "pseudo-neapolitanische" Läden besser. Aber insgesamt bevorzuge ich trotzdem diese Pizza.

Tiramisu, nah, ich mach's besser. Und andere Restaurants auch. Sorry. Für mich der Tiramisu muss viel (und echten) Mascarpone haben, und Null komische Aromen (also kein Likör Aroma o.ä.) was hier nicht der Fall ist.

Service: als sie in ihrem Wolt Menü ein sehr irreführendes System haben, wo man Zutaten "abwählen" kann, was ich noch nie gesehen hatte, und das aber mit DREI Minus vor jeder Zutat, was für mich sehr verwirrend ist (mit einem Minus hätte ich es besser verstanden. Die drei Minus sahen eher wie eine Aufzählungsliste aus, nicht wie ein "das machen wir weg"), habe ich aus Versehen ohne Käse anstatt mit extra Käse die Pizza bestellt. Die waren danach kulant und haben die Bestellung erstattet. Also plus Punkte! Übrigens, ich hatte zufälligerweise geräucherten Tofu zu Hause, und war skeptisch aber ich hab's drauf gemacht weil nur mit Tomatensauce geht es für mich gar nicht. Und Überraschung. Passt zumindest mit der Rustica sehr gut! Könnte man im Menü integrieren ;)

In der gleichen unglücklichen Bestellung kam eine Diet Cola anstatt die normale, weil sie keine normale hatten. Das fand ich nicht ok. Nicht nur ist der Geschmack ganz anders, sondern auch sind künstliche Süßmitteln dabei, womit manche Leuten überhaupt nicht klar kommen. Man kann die zwei nicht einfach so tauschen ohne zu fragen. Ich fand aber cool dass sie dazu als extra auch eine Fanta gesendet haben. Also, die Entscheidung halte ich trotzdem als falsch, denn mMn hätten Sie zuerst fragen müssen, dann aus Wahl entweder erstatten oder einen Ersatz (gerne mit extra Geschenk) schicken. Aber zumindest war es ein Zeichen von "Verantwortung nehmen", was nicht alle Läden tun.

Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden und die ist jetzt meine default Pizzeria. Nur ein Tipp: es gibt noch ein Laden der L'Osteria heißt, mit "Italiana" dazu. Da habe ich aus Versehen bestellt als ich ein Gutschein von Lieferando hatte (sonst benutze ich Lieferando nie, sie sind echt schrecklich und ihre Kundenbetreuung ist die schlimmste ever). Bitte aufpassen weil die nichts miteinander zu tun haben, und vom anderen Laden empfehle ich sehr sehr sehr weit entfernt zu bleiben. Ich schreibe jetzt gleich auch da...
