If you got a baby, this place might not be the place to go for you. If you're looking for reasonably priced and tasty lunch or brunch buffet without your kid, you might be happy here.

Our experience was a friendly waitress, yet very unwilling to help. We checked beforehand whether it was OK to bring a buggy but we were met with no understanding to place it inside the restaurant - even though there was plenty of space for us, the buggy, the waitresses and other guests. The waitress asked us to place the buggy outside, which we wanted to keep our 2-month old. Refusing to put a 600-euro buggy in front of a restaurant without a lock (we didn't bring one since we never needed one anywhere else before) didn't help: "I've been working here for 15 years and never ever any buggy had been stolen". Yet.

In the end, we borrowed a lock from other parents who found a place for their buggy inside the restaurant.

Being German, I am aware that there is some apprehension towards kids in this country, but combined with a lack of service mindedness, this can ruin a nice Sunday's and - as new parents - a dearly missed change of scenery.

Absolutely don’t go with kids. A friend of ours had heard good things and made a reservation. He made it clear that 2 of the guests in our party were a young child and a baby and requested a high chair for the older child.

When we arrived with the 2 kids, we were met with eye-rolls from the staff, which is obviously disheartening. They had seated us at a table that was bar height but placed high chair at the table meant for a normal table, meaning it was way too short and unusable for the child. There is also no changing table available for younger children/babies. Overall, I would definitely not recommend for families.

I can’t say though that I would recommend Zuckerhut in general. The staff was unfriendly at best and the brunch was incredibly overpriced. Over €40 for 2x brunch buffet and one coffee. The brunch offering is just bread and a small selection of meats, cheeses, butter, jams, etc.. There was some fresh fruit, yogurt, porridge, applesauce, and cereal. The only option for any cooked food was eggs. The quality of the food is just okay, absolutely nothing special. For the price I was definitely expecting the quality and selection to be better and the staff to be more friendly and accommodating. I felt we were treated like a nuisance rather than dining guests.

There are other brunch buffets in Leipzig, I would explore other options. Maybe the cocktails are...

Geldschneiderei, unfreundlicher Service und grabschende Kellner - das waren leider die Erfahrungen, die wir im Zuckerhut machen mussten. Für unser Hochzeitsfrühstück hatten wir hier reserviert, dabei wurde von uns schon Monate vorher eine genaue Zahl verlangt, die wir allerdings natürlich nur ungefähr schätzen konnten. Dies geschah mit der Begründung, dass man ggf. das Lokal für uns schließen müsse, wenn die Gruppe eine gewisse Größe hätte, was wir nachvollziehbar fanden. Nicht wissend, wer alles tatsächlich zum Frühstück erscheinen würde, gaben wir eine Zahl von 60 Leuten und eine Startzeit von 10.30 an. Um 10 Uhr morgens am Tag nach unserer Hochzeit erhielten wir zunächst einen wenig freundlichen Anruf, wo wir denn blieben. Auf unseren Hinweis, dass 10.30 Uhr vereinbart wurde, gab es nur die Beschwerde, dass man schon Leute hätte wegschicken müssen. Als wir ankamen, war nicht für 60, sondern für etwa 50 Leute eingedeckt, andere Gäste fanden bequem drinnen und auch draußen (es war sonnig und warm) Platz, niemand musste weggeschickt werden. Wir hatten das "große" Frühstück für 13€ gebucht, im Gegensatz zu dem kleinen, welches nur um die 9€ kosten sollte. Bedient hat sich allerdings jeder Gast im Lokal gleich vom Buffet - hier wurde nicht drauf geachtet, wer welches Frühstück gebucht hatte. An einem Punkt packte einer der Kellner eine unserer Gäste von hinten im Vorbeigehen fest an den Schultern, ohne ersichtlichen Grund. Dieser Kellner konnte offensichtlich seine Hände nicht bei sich behalten und wirkte alkoholisiert. Zum Schluss kam es dann zur Abrechnung - hier wurden uns die vollen 60 Personen berechnet, obwohl weniger gekommen und auch für weniger eingedeckt worden war. Im gesamten Lokal war nirgends ein Platz frei gewesen und dennoch wurde im unfreundlichsten Ton darauf bestanden, dass man ja Leute hatte wegschicken müssen und dadurch ein Verlust entstanden wäre. Angesichts der vergleichsweise kargen Auslage des Frühstücks an sich, war dies leider ein sehr unschöner Abschluss für einen einmaligen Anlass.

Abschließend bleibt zu bemerken, das wir und unsere Gäste definitiv keinen Fuß mehr in dieses Etablissement setzen und auch anderen davon abraten werden, es...
