A Memorable Meal, Despite a Few Hiccups
We visited Blaue Libelle last Friday evening with high hopes for a special dinner, and while the experience wasn't flawless, the incredible food ultimately won us over.
Let's address the one drawback first: the service was a little slow. We were seated maybe after 5-6mins with a reservation , but after ordering, there was a significant wait. The biggest issue was that our drinks were completely forgotten. We had already finished our starter which was delicious and beautifully presented dish before we realised our cocktails had never arrived. When we politely mentioned it, our server was genuinely apologetic. They rectified the mistake immediately, and the drinks were brought to our table without further delay.
And this is where the review turns a corner. The service delay was entirely forgiven because the food was absolutely spectacular. Every bite of our main courses was a delight; the flavours were exquisite and the presentation was top-tier. It truly made up for the initial wait. It's also important to note that our server, throughout the evening, was exceptionally polite and respectful, which made the small misstep much easier to overlook.
A few key tips if you plan to visit:
· Book Ahead: This place is popular for a reason. We saw several people waiting outside waiting for a table. Definitely make a reservation. · Mind the Budget: The cocktails and wine list are on the pricier side, but in our opinion, they are crafted with care and are worth the splurge. · Set Your Vibe: With its intimate lighting and elegant décor, this is unmistakably a venue for a romantic dinner or a celebration. It's the perfect spot for an anniversary, birthday, or a fancy date night.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this place. While there was a service stumble, the exceptional quality of the food, the sincere apology, and the wonderful ambience make it a place we are already planning to return to. Just go in prepared for a leisurely, special occasion meal rather than...

Being from San Francisco, we found it nearly impossible to have anything close to our quality in Germany as a whole, hence the 5 stars for this place. 5 stars for Germany. 3-4 stars for SF. The service was friendly and attentive, and the menu offered a lot of variety for all palates with some creativity and seasonality. The pizzas that went past us looked amazing for a non-pizza restaurant, and our meal came with some warm bread that tasted like garlic-salted pizza crust bakes, so we could tell that crust was as good as it looked! Everything from oysters to game meat with a lot of vegetarian starters that seemed very farm fresh. The cocktail my spouse had wasn't that creative (not the most creative options), but it was perfectly balanced and prepared. The wine list is incredibly extensive.
Some notes: Listed as a bar, but maybe should be listed as a restaurant? The menu is too good and well thought to call this place a bar. Maybe elevated wine bar. VERY loud music, hard to talk over. Romantic (dark) lighting. Extremely popular so we were lucky to get in w/o...

Dishes are super small and expensive. Also, I am a very picky eater. Most dishes would contain fruits or nuts, ingredients that I despise. It was a biz dinner so I didn't care paying much for that but I wouldn't have personally done it. Also the duck was super dry. ▪️Service: the waiter did a wonderful job trying to be super helpful with his limited English skills, hands down 🙌🏻 unfortunately it was a bittersweet situation as they asked us to leave bc they had other reservations, so rude! ▪️Drinks: I wasn't drinking alcohol but my friends were and I found it a bit disappointing that they had little knowledge about pairing wines with the food. If you're gonna be a pretentious restaurant with tiny food and expensive prices, you should know your wines....
