Café Ignaz — Restaurant in Munich

Bad experience, one of the worse I had so far in Munich in a restaurant.

3 people with reservations. Greeted nicely, waiter was young a bit unsure but very friendly and and tried to please all customers. They were just no match to the number of customers present, and the waiting time was way longer than anticipated.

I disliked my dish, as one of my friends did.

The buffet was still present as advertised until 2pm, but the waiter told us straight up that there will be no refills of anything no more. Given that the plates were mostly full between a quater and a half of the total at 1pm we decided to not go for the buffet given a 10,90 p.p. price point.

Any request for additional service (i.e. marmalade+butter for a leftover bun of our main dishes) was frowned upon and denied (not even offered for additional fee).

All-over I can not recommend this place. It is not a single thing that pissed me off, it is a collection of those "we-have-too-many-customers"-problems they failed to...

If you want to enjoy amazing homemade food and sweets in a very cozy atmosphere, this is the place to go!

Great selection of cakes and confectionary - vegetarian and also gluten-free option available (e.g. Sachertorte without alcohol, Cheesecake with Nougat, Rumkuglen,…).

They also have a great selection of cookies and Christmas goodies outside for a very fair price.

Attention: *You can only sit inside if your current condition complies with 2G. Otherwise you can sit outside or they also do takeout (at least on the cakes).

*They accept card payment.

Lastly, can only recommend the ginger-mint tea! So delicious.

I saw that this place was recommended for good vegetarian/vegan options in Munich so I had to stop by, and it certainly did not disappoint. I got the fried gnocchi with tomato and arugula (with added mushrooms) and a chocolate coconut cream cake. Both were delicious!
