Jaded Monkey — Restaurant in Munich

I never leave a bad review to bars, but I feel like this time it deserves it. We went today with two friends and one of them does not drink. We were going to make up for that since me and my other friend like cocktails, and each of them costs 13 euros aprox. So overall we were going to pay a good amount of money. But this VERY RUDE waiter comes to us saying that if my friend doesn’t drink anything that he should get up and leave. Totally unacceptable behavior, I’ve never experienced something like that anywhere in the world. It made me very upset, we bought an additional drink just for him to leave us alone but honestly never coming back to this bar, and I’m not going to recommend it to anybody. Very rude behavior, and I was actually very excited to get to know this place, but it left us with such a bad impression. So one thing for sure is that we are never coming back, and I hope this employee that was super rude to us will do alright because he needs it :))) never again spending my money here. Good cocktails. The bar itself could use a bit of improvement on the interior design front, just a few minimal cosmetic changes to make the space more exciting. It's a good sized space as it is big enough not to feel too crowded but small enough to feel intimate. Service was also good despite it being rather busy, we were there at 11pm on a weeknight and people kept coming. I had the Mr. White cocktail which wasn't bad but the cocktail that I enjoyed the most was their Patpong Sling, nicely presented but great flavours, I love cocktails that have a taste of pandan. Their Old Fashioned wasn't bad but it was served with a straw, which is a total no-no as far as this cocktail goes. Even though it was busy, they were lacking better music to make the place feel a bit more ambient. Overall good service, good cocktails...

We were here with my friend on February 14th, and honestly, it was the worst experience we had in Munich… We were just taking selfies of ourselves with our drinks when a man who works at the bar -looking like a fake Gandalf with his long beard- suddenly yelled at us, saying something like, “Enough with the photos!” We were completely speechless and had no idea how to respond. He was unreasonably rude, so we just finished our drinks and left.

It’s honestly ridiculous to yell at two young women for simply taking selfies with their drinks in 2025. Keep that in mind if you’re planning to visit...
