St. Michael's (Michaelskirche) is a late 16th-century church along Neuhauser Straße. It is one of many beautiful and interesting churches that you can visit in the Old Town. Constructed by the Jesuits in Renaissance manner, St. Michael's has a beautiful facade. There are a great many niches filled with statues of various members of the Wittelsbach family who ruled Bavaria for centuries. These are worth spending a few minutes to see prior to entering and see the inside of St. Michael's. There is also an impressive sculpture of St. Michael's slaying a demon just above the door. The interior of the church is attractive as well. You'll find the second largest barrel vault style nave in the world behind St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. It is stylised in the manner of the counter-reformation movement of the time. You'll find numerous decorative altars in the side chapels as well as a large and attractive high altar in front. There is an attractive pulpit, a detailed Eugene de Beauharnais monument and the Bronze of St. Michael in the back of the nave are all worth seeing. You can visit the underground Royal Crypt at St. Michael's (€2 per person) and see decorative tombs of the Wittelsbach family, including King Ludwig II and Maximilian I. In the end, we very much enjoyed our 20-25 minute visit to St. Michael's. It is well worth including in your sightseeing plan if you want to visit some of the more impressive churches around the city.

I am not a religious person, but when I was traveling to Munich, I had the opportunity to visit St. Michael's Church. It was an incredibly memorable experience that made me feel incredibly lucky. On a early morning, I was walking down the streets of Munich when I heard the sound of church bells ringing. The bells were clear and melodious, like a soothing melody, making me feel peaceful and relaxed. I decided to stop by the church to take a look. When I stepped inside the church, I was overwhelmed by the vast and ancient space. The towering stone walls, the sparkling stained glass windows, all created an incredibly majestic and magnificent scene. I quietly walked through each chapel, admiring the statues and the exquisitely carved works of art. The atmosphere in the church was very quiet, with only the clear and melodious sound of the bells. I felt like all my worries and concerns had disappeared, leaving only peace and tranquility. I stood on the balcony of the church, looking out at the city of Munich as it was waking up. The sun was up high, its golden rays shining down on the city, making everything look more beautiful and vibrant. I felt incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to experience such a peaceful and serene space. I believe that anyone who visits St. Michael's Church will feel the same peace and tranquility as I did. It is a tourist destination that is well worth visiting when you come to Munich.

I was walking along the shopping street of Neuhauserstrasse when I noticed this just. The facade of the church is unusual for having statues of members of the Wittelsbach dynasty, the then rulers of Bavaria as Dukes and Kings. So I just felt like I had to come in and see a bit more of the church. The first church was built by William V, Duke of Bavaria. The barrel vault is one of the longest I've ever seen and I'm not surprised to read that when the church was built, there were doubts about the stability of the vaulting. The alter is particularly impressive, particularly in the way it draws attention to the Annunciation altarpiece. The chapels are also unusually it that they're designed to look like triumphal arches, alluding to the perceived triumph of the Catholic counter reformation. Definitely worth see if in Munich.
