TRICHARDS Restaurant . Weinbar — Restaurant in Munich

The place: first impression was that the doors were a bit awkward 😂 the space is a bit cramped and they both open outwards, so it was a bit clunky. Once in, you’re greeted by a sober, kinda chic interior with white walls clad with the occasional painting in a thick, complex frame. Not too bright, not too dim. There was quiet music when we sat down, but it was turned off as the place got fuller. I thought the music didn’t quite match the decor, but who cares.

The food: COMPACT MENU, thank the gods. Most dishes (predominantly seafood) seemed enticing, but I ended up going for scallops with black truffle. They were pan seared, just right. Truffles and beets added earthiness and texture, butter added saltiness, and the beautiful presentation wraps up a very nice dish. Main dish was dorado with veggies and a dark brown purée of something. Fish was soft with crunchy skin and no bones, but the flavors were a bit muted. Veggies were the most noticeable flavor there. For dessert I got the platter with four samples: crème brûlée (the best imo), mini lava cake, honey panna cotta with mango sorbet (quite nice) and some sort of berry foam (maybe raspberry?). I was pretty happy with dessert.

The service: I thought it was above average for German standards. Fiancée did not want the wine of the day and the gentleman was more than happy to find a suitable drink for her taste. It got a bit slower later on when it got more packed, but it didn’t bother us.

Fiancée says: happy with the rose wine. Garlic butter tasteeeh. My lava cake was more cake than lava. Good experience.

We were satisfied and are glad to recommend the place for a date night or wine and dine...

Aufgrund der guten Kritiken und der ansprechenden Speise- und Getränkekarte habe ich mich dafür entschieden, meine Eltern zu Trichards einzuladen. Leider stellte sich dies als großer Fehler heraus.

Zunächst einmal ist die Lage des Restaurants und das Ambiente im Inneren sehr schön und charmant. Und auch das Essen war wirklich lecker! Der Service jedoch war völlig inakzeptabel. Wir bekamen unsere Getränke und Aperitifs ziemlich schnell, aber nachdem die Aperitifs weg waren, mussten wir mehr als 30 Minuten auf den nächsten Gang warten. Nachdem wir nachgefragt hatten, wie lange es noch dauern würde, kam das Essen glücklicherweise kurz darauf, allerdings hatte man unseren ersten Gang völlig vergessen und uns den Hauptgang gegeben. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren wir bereits seit eineinhalb Stunden im Restaurant. Wir waren so hungrig, dass wir es hingenommen haben, den ersten Gang nicht zu bekommen, aber es war trotzdem enttäuschend.

Eine weitere Enttäuschung war die Art und Weise, wie der Service unsere Getränkebestellung behandelte. Einer der Gründe, warum ich mich auf Trichards gefreut habe, war die große Auswahl an Weinen, die alle glasweise angeboten werden. Da die Liste sehr lang war, baten wir um eine Empfehlung auf der Grundlage der von uns bestellten Speisen. Wir hofften, dass der Kellner uns eine kurze Einführung in den Wein geben würde, doch der Kellner nannte uns nicht einmal den Namen des Weins - er stellte das Glas einfach auf den Tisch und ging schnell wieder. Vielleicht sind wir mit den falschen Vorstellungen gekommen, aber ich denke nicht, dass es unangebracht war, dies von einer Weinbar zu erwarten.

Der letzte Grund, warum ich nach diesem Besuch ein so negatives Gefühl hatte, ist, dass es so aussah, als wäre der schlechte Service nur an unserem Tisch. Es schien, als wären mehrere Stammgäste da, denn sie unterhielten sich mit dem Besitzer und bekamen in einigen Fällen ihr Essen vor uns, obwohl wir vor ihnen kamen. Aus diesem Grund hatte man das Gefühl, dass wir absichtlich anders behandelt wurden als die anderen Gäste.

Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass das Essen köstlich war (zumindest das, was wir schließlich bekommen haben) und die Atmosphäre angenehm war, aber der schlechte Service hat uns leider den...

While there was nothing wrong per se, the entire evening was disappointing. The service was messy, the tablet menus were odd and cumbersome given the setting, and the food was just ok. The flavors felt boring and unmemorable, and even the baguette that accompanied the charcuterie was stale. The entrecôte is where things could have swayed us, but it was simply not good, we weren’t even able to finish it, and its béarnaise sauce was sub par. The tagliatelle was a good attempt at something unique but nothing worth returning for... all in all, not great. The only aspect that didn’t ruin our evening was the pleasant and quiet...
