I’m a little ashamed to say it took me going to Tattenbach 3 times before I remembered to write a review, but our experience this weekend was so good I had to jump on and talk about it. We went to Tattenbach 2 weeks ago on a 2 day layover in Munich as we were headed to southern Mexico. We looked for a good place that served Augustiner Bräu and had good reviews. This weekend we are back in Munich as we head home to Türkiye and popped in again not once but two nights in a row.

I’ll preface that this place can get extremely busy around 7:30 or 8:00pm. If you want to avoid that mad rush try coming later which we did one of the times we came in for dinner and beer. To our lovely surprise, on each visit we were so cordially welcomed and the staff was so helpful and apologetic because it would take a little time to get us seated. We didn’t mind as it was warm and out of the cold rain. On each visit the floor manager tended to us, checked up on us, and each of these lovely ladies we encountered were so friendly and helpful.

The vibe of this place is what we love. Doesn’t get a ton of tourists, and you can tell this is where the locals come. It’s so nice to go in and see whole families sitting, laughing, and drinking beers without becoming obnoxious or intoxicated like it often happens where we’re from. The place is really cozy and rustic with lots of dark wood, frescos, cool chandeliers, and even cooler old school bier steins.

Lastly, the food and bier. Everything we ordered, be it wurst, duck, dumplings, pork shoulder, cheese spätzle was mind blowingly delicious! Bavarian food often times is comfort food. Something like what your grandmother would cook for you to tell you she loves you. That’s the vibe we got from the food. Bavaria’s way of saying “we love you”.

In my humble opinion Augustiner Bräu is the best brew in the city. I love a cold Dünkel and had a couple on each visit. The last night we were there we sat at the bar and watched the bar keep artfully fill the beer mugs with the perfect attention to detail with the perfect ratio of beer to head on each beer she poured. Each Dünkel was my favorite 🤣

What can I say but, Thank you Tattenbach for making us feel welcomed and like we were long lost family during our visits! When we are back in Munich in the near future, you can rest assured we’ll be back more than once!
