I was totally disappointed. Not only the ambiance was bad but also the food. When I entered the restaurant, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. But the food wasn’t even average. We had ordered Naan, Achaari Tikka Chicken, Hyderabad biriyani and Handi Chicken. Frankly, not even one of the four tasted good. Naan wasn’t cooked properly, it was a bit raw. Achaari Chicken was so salty. The Hyderabad Biriyani they serve is the worst ever biriyani I have ever had in my life. I am from South of India and it came as an absolute shock to me when the biriyani was filled with Spinach (tbh, it’s a Spinach rice). I have never had biriyani with Spinach in my life. The worst food was Handi Chicken. Even though, the taste was okay, the chicken was so bad. It smelled horrible. We did complain about Hyderabad Biriyani. They did take it back. But I couldn’t stop myself from posting a review. As everything was bad, we refrained ourselves from complaining about the rest. Food is absolutely terrible. I recently dined at Sitar Restaurant and was blown away by the vibrant, authentic Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, paired perfectly with fluffy garlic naan. The vegetable biryani was aromatic and packed with fresh ingredients—a must-try for vegetarians!
The ambiance is warm and inviting, with subtle traditional decor that adds to the experience without feeling over-the-top. Service was attentive and friendly; the staff happily explained dishes and even adjusted spice levels to suit our preferences.
Don’t skip the mango lassi—it’s the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. For dessert, the gulab jamun was heavenly!
Great value for the generous portions, and they offer vegan/gluten-free options too. Whether you’re craving classic curries or want to explore regional specialties, Sitar delivers. A gem in Munich’s dining scene—highly recommend!

Read moretaste was good, but lunch 'menu' is really very small for an average human being. in that 'menu' one can choose 'salad' but the 'salad' is a couple of old leaves and old tomatoes, and the so called main dish afterwards is mainly rice and literally 5 pieces of chicken. I was still hungry afterwards so I went to grab a sandwich. I travelled a lot, and this is my first experience with really small portions to be honest. I told him that I was still hungry, and he was angry and said 'yeah but this is lunch and one only pays 10 euro something not 17'. but how could I know that choosing a lunch menu means I'm not even eating enough?! better not to sell this option and focus on full price/normal...
