In front of Gasteig, 10 minutes max. nice walk from Isartor and very close to the beautiful Isar river bank, there is the lovely ice cream shop run by Davina and her husband. If you are there in a day when Davina is in the shop serving ice creams, ask her about how her ice cream creations are made. You immediately understand that those ice creams are made with the best care for few, excellent raw ingredients. Real milk comes local Bavarian farmers, real raw pistachios come from Sicily (ooh, by the way it's the best pistachio ice cream ever I tasted!!) , real raw hazelnuts come from Piemonte, etc... No shortcuts: just Davina's goal to let us eat truly GOOD stuff and her creativity in elaborating combinations of flavours depending on the season and availability of the ingredients (for instance, saffron, rose water and pistachio; mango & ginger, Marsala, fig, walnuts...).
Forget the super fluffy, airy (fake) ice creams: here you pay for hard artisanal work, top quality raw ingredients, creativity, no air, just solid, heavenly delicious TRUE ice cream!
P.s.: they also make incredibly fantastic bean-to-bar, single origin chocolate bars with the same care, competence and sensibility to source top-quality raw cocoa...
Read moreSuch a cute place that is perfectly located next to the waterfront. You can't have a better choice when choosing an ice cream shop to take on a stroll through the city.
What is fantastic is that the shop seems to use only very high quality ingredients with their ice cream, which you can easily tell. I have been her multiple times and you can never be disappointed in the choices of flavors they have.
My girlfriend and I got the Happy Monkey with roasted Pistachio. The second one was Pistachio with Haidhausen (Lavender and Blackberry). It was clear to tell that you were actually eating real fruit and the banana wasn't artificial at all. :)
I have to say I love the unapologetic attitude of making the best tasting ice cream within Munich and not being afraid to make new flavours based...
Read moreTop 3 ice cream shops in Munich. I tried the grapefruit for the first time, which tasted like a frozen grapefruit, not sure what I was hoping for there, still tasty though, but the lemon-mint ice cream was really nice and refreshing. Had a bite of the vanilla, and it was packed with an amazing natural vanilla flavor. We paid €2,30 per scoop (not sure if the waffle costs extra, we got a cup), which is pretty high compared to the €1,80 - we are used to paying at our neighborhood ice cream shop, which has great but "basic" flavors and larger scoops. The shop also sells really cute cards and smaller gifts - i wanted to buy them all. When I'm craving a bit more special ice cream flavor, I'll bike my way here again...
