Osteria Luna Rossa — Restaurant in Regensburg

This place is one of the best Italian restaurants in Regensburg. It is a definitely recommendable place to try if you visit Regensburg.

Food: as can be seen the pictures, two people enjoyed from Antipasti to Dolce.

Mixed plate for 2 people: The plate contains grilled veggies, sliced cheese, Caprese, beef Carpaccio and sliced truffle. All are well balanced and the amount are enough. For me, especially tomato and rucola were special and fresh.

Pasta: we ordered two type of Pasta (please refer to the pictures). The quality of tagliatelle (Bandnuddln) is beyond perfect. It is not a commercial product, it is home-made noodles and the level of cooking is also perfect for me. It was a little bit overcooked version of al dente. But it was perfect for me with tagliatelle. Fish and shrimp were also perfectly cooked and these texture was really tender and chewable.

Wine: I asked a waitress for the recommendation for the seafood pasta and she recommended Italian Lugana. She told us it is a dry wine and well matched with Seafood pasta. Wine itself was ok but I do not think it is a dry wine and well matched with my food. It was such a shame.

Coffee: I was touched by their service that they have decaffeinated coffee. If I drink a coffee in the evening, I cannot sleep well. So just in case I asked but they had it and served it nicely. But, the quality of coffees (normal and decaffeinated espresso) were just ok drinkable. It is definitely not an Italian restaurant level.

Service: all people were overall very nice and gentleness are embodied. I did not feel any uncomfortable feelings.

Atmosphere: I like the location of the restaurant. It is located in a narrow and old street, reminding me of the Italy. The mood inside was also very much Italian feeling.

Price: it is the main drawback of this place. The overall price is quite high. I know the quality of foods and services are good and they deserved the high price for sure. But when it comes to the cost-effectiveness, I cannot say it is very good.

FYI: The mixed starter for 2 people (36 euros), Pasta (22-23 euro for one person), opened 1/2 white wine (28 euros).

Avoid this place. I have just returned from Italy so that’s why the visit in this restaurant was an epic disaster. The food we were served had nothing to do with Italian dishes. just take a look at this Pasta a la Norma, which is supposed to be an aubergine tomato sauce with a hint of cinnamon. What we got was some pasta that was overcooked with tomato sauce and some side aubergine, And lots of cheese that wasn’t supposed to be here. Of course the waitress asked us how do you like the food but We didn’t know what to say not even where to begin to say how the dish should be prepared. Over 30 Euro for a mediocre pasta was...

Also das Essen ist wirklich top - wenn man mal was bekommt. Wir wurden schon lange nicht so schlecht bedient. Wir waren an einem Montag ( ein paar Bewertungen stimmen mit unserer Erfahrung überein) und das sollte kein Umsatz starker Tag sein. Wir waren um 20 uhr dort und bekamen unsere Vorspeise um 21:15 bis dahin hatten wir eine Flasche Weißwein ( kam 30min später) und eine Wasserflasche Indus. Unser Hauptgang hat noch einmal 45 min gedauert. Die zweite Flasche Wein wurde bis dahin schon bestellt. Es wurde kein tisch um uns herum abgeräumt. Leute die bezahlen wollten, mussten ewig warten. Wir wussten nicht, ob es an die Bedienung lag ( die maßlos von sich überzeugt war Und jede freie Minute rauchen ging) oder an der Küche ( der Koch musste gleichzeitig spülen und kochen) lag aber von 20 bis 23 uhr war definitiv zu lange. Da das Essen wirklich umwerfend gut war wollten wir etwas Trinkgeld da lassen - drei euro. Die Bedienung nahm das Geld ohne ein danke entgegen. Wir beide waren maßlos sprachlos. Meine Begleitung konnte nicht anders und musste ihr die Meinung sagen Keine Ahnung woher diese bedienung sich diese Frechheit herausnimmt und so von sich selbst überzeugt ist. Es hilft auch nichts, wenn man nett zu kinder ist ( harte Gummi Bärchen verteilt) der Service war schlecht. Siehe bild - und die Bedienung hat sich bei einem gast beschwert dass sie so viel zu tun hat. Sorry aber wenn man etwas raus trägt kann man auch leeres Geschirr mitnehmen.

Der Geschäftsführer/in sollte sich wirklich eine neue Arbeitskraft suchen das Lokal hat Potenzial aber nicht mti so einer Arbeitsmoral.

Gerne kann ich mal an einem Tag aushelfen, aber so etwas schädigt echt dem Ruf!!!!
