Hofbräuhaus Regensburg — Restaurant in Regensburg

Hi all, This is my first entry here. So please excuse my English here. I am learning german. But English is close to my heart.

So it's about the hyped hoffbrau beer garden in rgbg. So it's not the place, but the brand hoffbrau which was hyped to me and I liked it too... got to know from a buddy of mine through his experience from October fest. Had it at first at Neuschwanstein castle and really liked it. Now, beer as a beverage was not my favorite, but it was changed, since I have been to Germany. But anyway the best beer, I had was not from this country though. Anyway, I tried hoffbrau helles and dunkel 250 ml each. Both were from tap. They were good. Infact dark one was better. Hoffbrau as always has always the best before taste and after taste feeling, that any german beer could offer. Again this is my opinion and I haven't traveled that much in Germany. Here comes the thing about the place. It's a proper german restaurant, which an average foreigner would expect. Being from hoffbrau, it had Bavarian touch too. I.e. All the people were in traditional attires in Drindl and Leder Hose. I sat inside the Garten. So ambience was there to no complaint. Even the patrons who came there were in traditional dress. So a cozy place. Then comes the service. There was a guy, served me. May be he was a bit cold. I felt that way. I ordered a helles from tap and followed by a dunkel from tap. Both were exquisite. Then I had a filled Schnitzel with potato based salad. It was also good. Blasted my mind with the taste and richness it offered. Anyway the highlight of the place was finding an Asian woman in Drindl. She was warm and greeted me with a Grüß Got and bade me a farewell with a Aufwiedersehen. Also an old man approached me asking about the food, how it was. I said good. Then one has to see the happiness in his face. That was priceless. Now I could understand, what professionals in hospitality industry out of their work. Again this is an honest opinion from a novice, who is new to german culture. My enthusiasm wanes off in 10 minutes after drinking beer. So I rushed whatever I could honesty bring...

SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE

This restaurant has been a favorite place of my parents who knew the owners well.

Now the new generation is ruining the beautiful reputation.

I ordered asparagus which arrived after a long time waiting. The asparagus was not warm, the ham was thick and hard, potatoes too soft and salty

But still I was so happy finally to get asparagus and started eating. The nice waiter asked me if all is ok, I answered truthfully that the asparagus is not hot. I asked him to feel it and he agreed that it was cold.

He offered a new portion of asparagus. Please note I did not complain and would have eaten it as I was hungry as well.

So he took the meal Shortly after, a woman who called herself 'chefin' Frau Gardner-Schafbauer, came back with a styropor box and my whole meal inside. What a disgusting sight, all mixed up in this cheap box. She said 'you can take it home'. I thought that was a joke and said ' I live in a hotel and do not want to take it. Still expecting to get a new portion of asparagus.

No I was mistaken. They made me pay for the horrible meal in the styropor box. I had to leave hungry and needed to go to another restaurant for a meal.

I travel a lot and eat often in restaurants. NEVER EVER anything like this happened before.

This unprofessional woman said 'the cook took out the asparagus of the hot water. So maybe the plate was waiting too long to be brought to the customer. Could be many reasons why the meal was cold, but so brutally putting the customer into the wrong, is...

We sat waiting for a waitress. Eventually,I got up and got myself a menu. Then waited again . My husband was ready for leaving. It was not busy when we arrived. There were 5 tables free on the right side. So we picked one. Waitress came said just a minute, got order from a table who was in before us ,then one that came in after us. Waitress took our order .Served me white wine ,asked for red. Said not got it ,but this was same in white. Not would you like to pick another. No apologies .Our Tiroler Grostl came with no eggs on. When we got the bill and gave her our credit card . She Said "no card. Give me cash.," With no please. A big business like this with no card machine . Rubbish Not going...
