If you’re visiting Bacharach and looking for a relaxed spot to grab a bite and soak up the local atmosphere, Kleines Brauhaus is a great choice. We visited while staying overnight in the village and enjoyed an early dinner here—sitting outside with a lovely schnitzel and a cold beer was just what we needed after a day of sightseeing. The setting is casual and a bit quirky, with some of the seating set up in what looks like an old carousel, giving it a laid-back, almost playful feel. The food is hearty German-style fare, with familiar favourites like schnitzel, bratwurst, and potato salads on the menu. If you’re after something a bit more creative or modern, you might find the menu limited, but for a filling, comforting meal, it does the job perfectly. The atmosphere is friendly and feels more local than touristy, which we really appreciated. It can get quite busy during peak times, so I’d recommend popping in earlier in the evening or visiting on a weekday if you prefer it less crowded. We didn’t feel rushed at all, and the service was relaxed and welcoming. It’s not the kind of place you go for a fine dining experience, but that’s exactly what makes it special—simple food, easy-going vibes, and the perfect little stop to end off a day in Bacharach. Definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in the area or passing through on your Rhine Valley travels.

We loved this place. How can you beat sitting in an old carousel, drinking good beer with a view of the Rhine River? We were in Bacharach for five nights, and we went everyday to sit and have a beer. The owner, Annette, serves, cooks and manages everything...all with a big smile. One evening we had a hankering for German sausage, but as we strolled the streets, we couldn't find what we were looking for. Back we went to the Brauhaus and had some tasty weisswurst with a pretzel. Just what we needed! If you're in Bacharach, definitely stop in and enjoy the views, beer and food.

This was a great relaxed evening. The staff were friendly and the beer was cold and refreshing. The food was made to order so it took a little bit, but it was nice to sit and drink a beer and enjoy the view of the Rhine. The fries were great. The dressing on the salad was amazing. The wurst was good and crispy on the sides. The mustard came out of small packets but was still good German mustard. We tried to go back the next evening because it was such a fun relaxed place to have a beer and food, but they were closed for some reason.

I don't know why the other review was so low. My experience was similar to the ones on Trip Advisor. The food was great, the beer was great, and the host was extremely friendly. The service was slow but considering one person cooked and served every table, I thought the service was amazing. The Jagerschnitzel and the Flammkuchen were very good and the house brewed beer was the best we had in Germany. It is a quirky atmosphere with the circus tent covered outdoor seating but the view of the river is nice. I honestly enjoyed the randomness of the decor and it's a great place for kids. Another indication of the quality is how many local Germans were in the place. The German man next to me made a point of telling me this was the best food and beer in the region,...
