A new restaurant which wasn’t here when we visited last year but we’re so happy that it is a fixture in the area now.
First and foremost a huge applause for the staff who are so attentive to providing you with a great meal and also so knowledgable and articulate with any queries regarding the menu.
The food was sublime! We had the courgette croquettes as a sharing starter which were so flavoursome (a true rival of our favourite zucchini balls in Crete). As for main we had the mushroom pasta and imperico pork. We sampled each other’s dish and both were blown away by the depth of flavours and how well cooked the food was.
The pork is smoky but sweet and so tender and juicy inside. It comes with new potatoes but they aren’t just basic potatoes, they are seasoning and cooked very well. A purée accompanied these on the side too which included mustard and was a great companion to the pork. Such a well thought out menu - props to the chefs. The mushroom pasta had so much depth also, the savouriness and umami profiles carried through in the sauce so much and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Perfectly Al dente.
Ensemble is pricier than the nearby restaurants (but equal to what we would expect to pay in England) but it is a must visit if you are in and around the area. We’re not surprised to see many reviews with repeat visits.
A cocktail, draught beer, starter and two mains totalled €65 which in our opinion was money well spent. You will struggle to find a better restaurant in the whole of Kefalonia. Thank you for...
Read moreI took my friend to Ensemble for her birthday last night and we had a lovely dinner. The place is exquisitely designed with a lovely view of the sea (although it was unexpectedly stormy the night we went). A lot of attention to detail has gone into the restaurant and it shows! The music is not too loud (as in some Greek restaurants) and the waiters were discreet and charming. Even the bathroom was a pleasure!
The cocktail menu is small but inventive and the raspberry bellini was divine. The wine list is also very nicely designed with a selection of Kefalonian, Greek and international wines. All the best that the island has to offer (which is a lot). We took a lovely rose from Naoussa.
They offered us a delightful amuse bouche of carrot and corn soup and then we started with the courgette fritters and Gruyere Saganaki. Everything tasted of fresh herbs and local touches like Thyme honey. I had the lamb chops which were perfectly cooked. I like them rare and the waiter double-checked the temperature several times. My friends equally liked their Shrimp risotto and Chicken main course. It was topped off with a scrumptious chocolate dessert with a lovely white chocolate and lime sauce paired with a dark chocolate treat. All in all, a lovely experience. Despite the rain, we were happy...
Read moreIt is definitely on my top 5 restaurants in Kefalonia, possibly reaching number 1, I am definitely going back many times to try the whole menu. We had as a first dish, a special of the day, dumplings with lagoto, a fusion dish of a traditional recipe and Asian dumplings-gyozas. They were absolutely delicious, they were devoured before we got to take a picture. Then came the fish. The sea bass and the skate. The dish with the skate was also a special dish of the day, the skate with the delicate flavour together with a saffron mayo and a lemon sauce were superb served with thin layers of potatoes stuck together and fried. The sea bass was served with a rich red tomato sauce, and a polenta cream under the fillets with battered okras, it looked amazing and tasted even better. Then came the dessert of chocolate mousse with olive oil and salt flakes to enhance the flavour of the chocolate. Absolutely amazing. The food was paired with excellent service, beautiful people, relaxing music and atmosphere. All together a great gastronomic experience. Well done ensemble! We will be coming back for...
