We visited Momento last night for dinner after being encouraged in when walking past. Straight after we sat at a table people vacated from a front row table which we asked to move to but were told no due to reservations. However we saw another couple being encouraged in to sit at a front row table, which they did. We promptly ordered food and wine, we asked if the calamari main came with chips and were told yes so didn’t order any separately. Complimentary bread arrived which we were surprised about and enjoyed while waiting for our food.
When the food arrived, there were no chips so we asked if they were still to come and the lady walked off. We assumed to go and get them. We had no service from there on, whatsoever. We kept trying to get the rude lady’s attention but she actively avoided us. We ate our food so it didn’t go cold while we were waiting for the chips. After finishing the food and wine, a long while after we knew the chips were not coming at all.
We finally managed to call the lady back who supposedly was getting our chips and she asked us to pay, on the bill there was an extra €3 which we had no idea what it was for, there was no discount made for not receiving the chips despite asking. Also we had been charged for the bread which we had not ordered and only had because it had been bought to us and everyone else, therefore we had assumed it was complimentary. Other tables were given complimentary limoncello shots but we didn’t receive these either, thankfully as I’m sure we’d have been charged for those aswell.
We will not be returning or recommending Momento after a disappointing experience, we will stick to Lassi which we found much more traditional, better value for money and...
Read moreWe arrived in Kefalonia today and after visiting some local shops and beaches, we decided to explore the area in which we are staying. Our taxi driver had mentioned Momento during the ride back from Costa Costa beach, and so we decided to give it a shot.... and thank goodness we did, because it was one of the loveliest meals we've had in a very long time. Elvira was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, and attentive and gave fantastic suggestions on menu items. The Greek salad was out of this world, with a slab of local feta on top of fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cucumbers. My boyfriend ordered the Kefalonian meat pie per Elvira's advice, and thought it was one of his favorite meals ever. I had the pasta primavera, and it was heavenly, with fresh peppers, courgettes, and onions atop linguine. And the setting.... Wow. Momento offers two spots for dining - one is across the street from the restaurant proper, just on the water's edge, and the other is outside on the front patio area. We opted for the patio as it was a bit quieter, but still allowed for prime people watching and gorgeous views. I highly recommend visiting Momento if you happen to find yourself in Argostoli, and be sure to ask for Elvira....
Read moreI love the crockery, you can always tell it’s a great traditional restaurant by that crockery. Especially since I’ve been all over Greece, you can trust me! There is a wide range of traditional Greek food, you can get lots of small plates or a main meal, we went for small plates because it gives you lots of variety and we wanted to try a wide selection of traditional food. Service was very good and entertaining to watch them pull in the punters! Very quick, efficient, and accommodating as they gave us an extra table to fit all the small plates on! It was the only restaurant on the sea front that was busy and it’s not hard to see why! The presentation of the food was lovely! We had the feta in filo pastry with honey and sesame, stuffed vine leaves (hands down the best I’ve had in my Greek travels, full of flavour and moist), saganaki with lemon (A MUST TRY!!!), fried oyster mushrooms with a balsamic glaze (delicious!!), Greek salad (the olives are unrivalled), zucchini balls and prawn saganaki (also the best I’ve had in my Greek travels). The tables are also presented wonderfully! I’ve spent 2 seasons (total of 11 months) in Greece so I think it’s fair to say I know what’s good and this is definitely one...
