The New Agora — Restaurant in Argostoli Municipality

Visited on 03/08/2024 during early evening when the restaurant was busy.

The sign of a good eaterie is how busy it is, even more so when locals are eating there. Having walked around for a while we chose here.

I didnae get the owners name as he introduced the menu but was a really lovely guy, not pushy, just very engaging.

In all we were seen to by 3 staff, all of them very professional, engaging and pleasant. Couldn't fault them one bit.

The food was fantastic:

Pork Gyros Shrimp Saganaki with pitta bread. Baklava Greek coffee. €51.

The shrimps (jumbo prawns) especially were to die for - heads left on, tails butterflied. Oh boy, tasty, tasty!

I've read other reviews that complain about the price. This is bang in the middle of the main town on the island, you pay for the location and view. Even at that I think the price we paid was very reasonable and I'd be more than happy tae go back.

What restaurant serves very warm wine ?when , pointed out politley to a waitress dissappear with glass of wine & totally forgets about you ! When again called over the same waitress ' who then realises,' she's forgot about you & proceeds to bring a small bucket of ice for your very same very warm glass of wine, that she disappeared with for nearly 10 minutes ago!!!! Onto the food - should taken the issues with the wine was a scene setter for what was to come ! suffice to say the chicken solvacka was just pieces of very greasy chicken , cold and tasteless chips , pitta bread cold and tad oilly. The other dish which was ordered just as poor ( pork kebabs) Suffice to say. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT! TERRIBLE FOOD! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE& ULTIMATELY WASTE OF MONEY. The low reviews are just unbelievable!! This place is THE PLACE. Amazing greek hospitality, amazing food quality and reasonable prices. I came back here and the same server gave us 2 beers and greek snack for free, he said it’s just greek hospitality. GREEK FOOD is great and fresh but if you order non-greek food like ham cheese toasts or cesar salad - you can’t experience that. In Greece please order greek food, it’s amazing, you can be always sure it’s fresh. Service here is really amazing and caring, lovely people.
