As a 23 year old woman here’s an honest review incase you were pondering staying. The location is a 5 min walk from a secluded beach (Ammes), walking another 15 mins in another direction takes you to another beach (helis) which is slightly bigger and has one cafe style restaurant. I’d recommend going to the local supermarket for helis which is on route for snacks, the lady who owns the shop is kind and helpful and it’s beside a restaurant which serves food fairly cheap with a wonderful team of staff. Ask them on tips of where to go, their English is fab. Ammes beach has an idyllic restaurant at the top (cute pics stop) again the staff are fab and smiley. There are also a few little restaurants on this road to the beach of Ammes and walking five mins up from the beach is another supermarket where once again the ladies running it are kind and smiley. The hotel was quite diabolical but you have to see the humour in it, someone said it gives vibes from the shining and they’re right. The only thing holding the place together is the staff who’s English isn’t fab but some members of staff are better spoken. On the first room I stayed in the drain completely drenched the floor in the bathroom because I allowed the half bath (not joking it was half the size) to fill with the shower head in my hand as unfortunately ALL the rooms don’t have a holder for the shower head. When I pulled the plug the water poured through the drain, this shouldn’t be an issue if you don’t fill the bath more than 2/3 full. I told reception what happened and they moved me rooms. The room I moved to also didn’t have a shower head holder but the maintenance man (very lovely) had installed one for me :). Unfortunately this didn’t keep me in the room as I realised you can hear the people speaking either side word for word in a normal volume speaking voice so be aware and also keep the noise down. I had to move rooms because I couldn’t deal with the natter, I’d come for peace and quiet. I asked for a room with no one beside me and the hotel reception (who know the hotel isn’t fab) we’re happy to move me again. Be aware that regardless of which floor you are, somehow the ants will find you as I woke up on day 5 to an ant nest on my balcony. The cleaners are fantastic and sorted it immediately on the morning. The rooms are clean which is another thing that they have going for them. The beds are hard, the pillows are flat and the duvet is just a white sheet… all clean ;). There is a tiny tv with a massive back to it which I’ve convinced myself is just a vintage vibe. My room door didn’t lock unless I pushed the key right in and turned it at a very slow speed but once I worked it a bit I got used to it, still safe. The breakfast … comical. As someone who suffers with Crohns I still felt bad for the other guests. Your options are sliced burger cheese and processed ham (one kind) odd looking bread, tinned peaches/cherries. Coffee from a heated boiler and limited choice for tea, no English breakfast so bring your own tea bags. Your room also will not have a kettle, just a fridge that hums mildly. There is a basic menu that you can order from, they’re not chefs at all so if you just fancy something quite plain you’ll be sweet. The balcony holds what you need tbf, very basic and plastic. Please don’t lean against the balcony as it gave me major anxiety because it deffo is not sturdy. The pool is fab, clean, quite cute. If you want somewhere as a cheap base to get a taxi to/from the best places about then this is the spot. I don’t mean to sound so unimpressed but I was quite shocked to see this, if you can look past all of what I’ve said then book up. With inflation and prices going up it’s not a bad place to go for a holiday. I personally wouldn’t pay more that £400 in prime weather for this (including flights) some people paid £200 but i unfortunately paid over £500. Don’t come unless it’s a deal! And don’t buy big bottles of water from the hotel because I’m certain it’s tap water as there is no sealed lid and I spent one...
Read moreThe only good things about this hotel are the location which it’s great proximity to the airport and the pool, which was large, always clean and quite often we had it to ourselves. |Unfortunately the staff were rude, would ignore us, snap at us and just generally behaved with hostility towards us. Often shrugging at us for basic requests - like one evening when I asked for a spoon to eat some yogurt (I’d purchased from the local shop) in my room - a process which took over 15 minutes as I was passed from reception, to the bar, to the restaurant all for a spoon and was then told ‘yes we can allow you to have a spoon’ - it’s a spoon guys not your first born child. When ordering drinks at the bar, the staff would roll their eyes at me and even snap when asking if I wanted milk/sugar in things like a frappe. I would try speaking Greek as I’ve been formally learning the language for a year, and they’d ignore me. Despite this, each time I’d go to the bar I’d leave a small tip of some change as I do appreciate how hard staff work for us - clearly my efforts all round were not appreciated. |Often in the mornings the pool would be scattered with last nights debris - cups, cigarette ends would be around the pool. Now clearly the main fault here lies with the guests who don’t clear up after themselves and shame on them but it wouldn’t hurt staff to have a tidy up before pool opening in the morning. |The breakfast was inadequate and often at times just gross. The machine for juice looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks, everywhere was teaming with wasps, the bread was stale, the yogurt had a strange and unidentifiable taste - I could go on. The whole vibe is that of a hostel/canteen and everything has a vibe of being unkept and unloved. |The rooms are small but objectively fine and we had a nice view which was enjoyable for the sunset so grateful for that. |We ate in the onsite taverna once but were met with such hostility that we didn’t eat there again. The pizza was inedible and everything was over priced for a very disappointing meal and shoddy service. |There are many excellent restaurants in the vicinity, thank god. |The location is good, 10 mins walk ish to the nearest restaurants and shop. And very close the airport which makes for an incredibly quick transfer. |Unfortunately in all my years travelling to Greece, my favourite place in the world, I have never experienced such hostility from staff and a lack of hospitality. |Would we return? Nope. I appreciate it is very well priced and for a week in Greece during August we objectively got a ‘bargain’ but we were not...
Read moreWe booked a last minute 3 night stay through Jet2, as other reviews state yes the hotel is very dated and minimalistic. We had breakfast at the hotel on our first morning which consisted of bread/toast, sliced ham and sliced cheese, a couple of cereal options and that was basically it, coffee was from an urn with tinned milk, we decided to venture out for breakfast for the rest of our stay. The rooms are very dated and our room in particular didn’t have a fixed shower head so had to multi task with showering, the beds were not comfortable at all and you can feel every spring.| However, having said all that we could not complain for the price we paid. The room had good air con and a mini fridge which was handy to keep the bottles of water nice and cold, the room was clean and beds were made daily along with fresh towels! The hotel has a large fantastic swimming pool which was spotlessly clean and plenty of sun loungers for guests. The hotel is in a fantastic location and within walking distance to both Ammes beach and Ai Helis beach - both stunning with crystal clear waters. There were a couple of little shops both within walking distance and some fabulous Greek tavernas dotted about. We ate at O Milo’s, La Calma, Fois, Koutoupas Paradise and Crazy George (we came here for breakfast- fabulous!)|The hotel staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, we were allowed full use of our room until our transfer pick up which was 19:30 at no extra charge - check out is usually 12:00. The hotel is situated very close to the airport so easy transfers however, this means it sits right under the flight path, we didn’t mind this at all as it was extraordinary to watch the planes coming in so closely. If you are looking for a budget friendly hotel in a fantastic location with a great pool and you’re not worried about having all the frills then you will not be disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it will definitely not be our last visit...
