CACHOU — Restaurant in Athens

I was walking in Kerameikos after dinner and was looking to have an after dinner Raki per my usual. I saw this place walking around and without looking at the reviews and thought why not? So I sat down and ordered a raki. It was a pleasant time until I got the bill. I saw that they charged me 2 extra euros for water I never ordered. When I asked the waitress, she instantly became very rude and said 'well' she brought it and thats the way it is! I saw that earlier they didn't charge any of the locals this so its definitely a scam on tourist.I live in Athens (not a tourist) part of the year and I've seen this scam on many places. Not everyone does it but some do. This place is one of those that 'does it'. I asked some locals about this place and they confirmed that its pretty shady! Sometimes you have to just shrug it off. This place was absolutely phenomenal. The staff (shoutout V!) and the chef were wonderful and so kind, and the food was some of the best we had over our 10 day trip. The chef Dimitrius is so insanely talented and everything he made for us was SO good and so fresh, you can tell he puts so much thought and love into his recipes. The restaurant itself is very cozy and decorated in a very intentional and unique way with one of a kind pieces inside, but has a huge back area if you prefer to dine outside. We were in Athens for 4 full days and had dinner here 3 times! We really found a home here and kept coming back, I would eat here every day if I could. Tonight is our last night in Greece. Sad, yes, but we ended our three week trip here with a superb meal at Cachou. The experience began with a warm welcome. While they offer outdoor dining, we decided to eat inside in a charming area with stone walls, exceptionally comfortable chairs and tables, and a fireplace right out of a Melina Mercouri movie.
