I came in for lunch and stayed for about 2 hours, during which time zero other customers came in. I can see why the place was empty. The waitress was wearing yoga pants and a sports bra instead of professional attire. A basic margarita was €11, and that was the lowest price on the cocktail menu. **WARNING: there are several photos on Mentirosa’s review page that show the price as €10, but the price is actually €11. Their drink prices were similar to a fancy 4-5 star hotel in the center- whereas Mentirosa is a casual place, much like a taco stand. I politely asked if they had any drinks that were more affordable, or a happy hour. The bartender, instead of offering any options, scolded me and tried to argue about how the price was justified. I have lived in Greece for 2.5 years and let me tell you, it’s not normal to charge so much, especially not at lunch time. So, I opted not to drink. I ordered food and one of my tacos was tasty, while the other was served luke-warm, a bit cold in the middle, like it had been reheated. The waitress never checked on me for over an hour. Finally, I flagged her down asked about the nachos because I was still hungry, (the portions are very small). The bartender assured me the nachos were made with real melted cheddar and not nacho cheese. Nevertheless, when the order came out, the cheese was not as promised. It didn’t have the consistency of melted cheddar, but was saucy, like artificial cheese. The bartender, instead of apologizing or trying to fix my order, bullied me relentlessly, arguing about how I was wrong. I told him I had worked in the service industry, and that it wasn’t acceptable to speak to customers this way. He said I was “difficult” and made me feel quite unwelcome, basically trying to shout me into submission. Meanwhile, I saw him making margaritas for the staff to enjoy on their lunch break. It was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Greece. I told the man I didn’t want to argue, I just wanted to pay and leave, because he wouldn’t stop confronting me. He told me to leave and not pay, which I normally wouldn’t do, but in this case I did, because I had such a bad time. I was on the fence about leaving this review, but I wanted to warn people not to eat here. I walked 20 minutes in the scorching heat from Syntagma square to find this place because I was craving authentic Mexican food and a fun atmosphere. I was beyond disappointed. Afterward, I went to the center and passed by an upscale restaurant with an Acropolis view offering drinks on happy hour for €4. In conclusion: the name of the bar is “mentirosa”, which means liar in Spanish, and I think that says it all.
Update: just look at the response the bartender left (below) to see how he continues not to apologize for anything and blame customers if they don’t have a...

Read moreThe pork dishes were excellent. I had pork Tacos but they old out of the other pork dish. The beef on the nachos was a bit dry and there was a spice power on nacho chips that didn't really add to the overall dish. Neither the beef nor chicken tasted marinated, but the chicken was good on the Tacos. There is one dead tree & a palm next to it that doesn't look healthy. The service was good, but the waitress was working REALLY hard while the bartender n dish washer didn't seem to be helping much. There were about 8-10 tables of customers.
Lastly, I know it's allowed by law, but allowing people to smoke in a dining area or near it ruins the experience. Smoke changes the smell & taste. Be a leader and make...
