BEAUTY KILLED THE BEAST — Restaurant in Athens

Bad and slow service, felt like it was everyone's first day there... The waitresses didn't know where the plates where going and were asking the tables if "this plate" or "that plate" was theirs...at first we were charged with plates we didn't order..the recipes in the menu looked interesting but in reality nothing super tasty. Small portions. The chicken-zuccini tarte was in reality a cheesy tarte with some sprinkles of zuccini and chicken, the avocado on top was sour (probably gone bad), the egg on top was cold. Lemon pie had a twist of the original recipe ("kormos" for base) which was basically a rich dark chocolate base with hazelnuts which a) covered the whole flavour of the lemon curd and b) the hazelnuts didn't match at all in the dessert. We sat on the outside, nothing special, bit uncomfortable, for sure didn't invest in the outdoor decoration/interior. Way overpriced for the location and the product. Zero...

Absolutely sensational! The creativity in the design, to include every little detail, and the artistic nature of the cafe and surrounding buildings set the stage for a great experience. And then the food surpassed it. The Waffles with Poached Eggs was probably one of the most delicious dishes I have ever eaten. I don’t know how they made those waffles, but damn. I was a little worried about ordering something sweet but they had perfect flavor and a bit of a crunch that harmonized with the mashed avocado and precisely poached eggs. The Pink Lemonade drink was cool, crisp and perfectly balanced for a summer day. I just landed in Athens and my trip is off to a flawless start. I don’t know how any other restaurants can top...

Unfortunately, and contrary to positive reviews, this place no longer has the quality food it once had.

Sadly, the waiting staff is quite rude - there is no need to get into details about what happened to us - and after speaking to a manager he straight-up confirmed that such behavior of the staff is common and he was sorry, but there was nothing more he could do but wait until September to reorganize the staff.

I am sure you can save yourself from a quite mediocre experience and head someplace else, there are quite a few great choices out there.

The above words don't come from a passer-by, I met my wife for the first time in this place, I live nearby and have been a loyal customer since 2017 when it opened, so...
