My recent visit to Indian Chef in Athens was nothing short of a culinary delight. This family-owned establishment, run by the Singh family, offers an extensive menu featuring a plethora of vegetarian options, making it a haven for herbivores like myself. The undeniable highlights of the evening were the Aloo Kulcha and Paneer Tikka, which are simply a must-try. Ambiance and Hospitality (5/5): From the moment I stepped into Indian Chef, the warm and welcoming ambiance drew me in. The restaurant's decor effortlessly combines a touch of India with a modern twist, creating a comfortable and inviting space. The Singh family's presence is felt throughout the establishment, making you feel like a cherished guest in their home. Vegetarian Options (5/5): As a vegetarian, I was spoiled for choice. Indian Chef offers a diverse selection of vegetarian dishes from various regions of India. Whether you prefer the bold flavors of North Indian cuisine or the subtler tastes of the South, you'll find an abundance of options to explore. The emphasis on fresh ingredients and authentic spices truly sets this restaurant apart. Must-Try Dishes: 1. Aloo Kulcha (5/5): The Aloo Kulcha at Indian Chef is a revelation. The soft, freshly baked bread stuffed with a flavorful, spiced potato filling is an absolute delight for the taste buds. It's served with a side of chutney and a dollop of butter, enhancing the overall experience. Every bite transports you to the streets of India; it's a dish that lingers in your memory long after you've savored it. 2. Paneer Tikka (5/5): The Paneer Tikka is a standout dish. The paneer is impeccably marinated, grilled to perfection, and served sizzling hot. The blend of spices and smoky char make each bite a burst of flavors. This dish is a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity and quality. Other Highlights (5/5): The menu offers a rich tapestry of Indian cuisine, including aromatic curries, fragrant biryanis, and crisp dosas. The Vegetable Biryani is a delightful symphony of flavors, and the Masala Dosa is as authentic as it gets. You'll also find a variety of Indian bread, such as Naan and Roti, perfectly complementing the delicious curries. Service (5/5): The Singh family and their team deliver impeccable service. Their attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and dedication to ensuring a memorable dining experience are truly commendable. They readily refill water, offer suggestions, and make you feel like an honored guest. Value for Money (5/5): Indian Chef offers outstanding value for money. The portion sizes are generous, and the quality of the dishes justifies every cent spent. It's an affordable culinary journey into the heart of India. In summary, Indian Chef is a culinary gem in Athens. With its authentic, diverse vegetarian options, welcoming ambiance, and the unforgettable Aloo Kulcha and Paneer Tikka, it stands out as an embodiment of Indian culture and cuisine. The Singh family's passion for Indian gastronomy shines through in every dish, making this restaurant an absolute must-visit for food enthusiasts in Athens.

I visited this restaurant by my friend’s recommendation and I was truly impressed. I liked it so much that I visited again within a couple of weeks and ordered exact same food. Both of my visits took place at around 6:00 PM, and even though I didn’t make any reservation, I was lucky enough to find an available table each time. I really enjoyed everything I ordered: Garlic Naan, Chana Masala and Plain Boiled Basmati Rice. Garlic Naan has the perfect amount of Garlic and it’s served warm. I fell in love with the ideal spiciness of Chana Masala and, plain Basmati Rice compliments it perfectly. If you don’t enjoy eating cardamom as whole, make sure to remove them from your rice before starting to eat as there are a couple of them inside to bring flavor. While I like the subtle aroma of cardamom in rice, when you eat it whole, it can come off a bit strong. The portions are very big and if you can’t eat everything you order, you can ask for take away food containers as they kindly provide them. The service was fast. In my both my experiences, the same lady was working as a waitress, and she was great. All in all, I think this is a nice place to enjoy Indian cuisine.

Bellow average in multiple ways. As soon as you enter the building you are greeted with the scent of Naphthalene, the service throughout was very good but unfortunately the food was underwhelming with the peak disappointment the carrot halva, which was neither halva nor could you taste the carrot, only fried milk butter with fried coconut fat and a touch of sope. The pitas where good and I think the highlight of the food, but the main courses had bad meat quality and underwhelming flavors. One of the dishes supposedly was 3/4 on their spice level but probably was more like 1/4. When it came to the starters the meat tandoori was very dry, only the chicken with its red colour was nice, and the vegetable balls where just bad. Unfortunatelly the starters and the dissert we could not even finish while the main courses where just meh. One more thing out of order on the reviews is the price which is definitely on the higher side and not the lower. Got baited by the review, once more Unfortunatelly.

I got served for three consecutive nights:

  1. First Night: I ordered Amristari Kulcha: It was amazing and I really cherished the hospitality of Indian servers
  2. Second Night: Masala tea was good but Samosa was below average. Again Indian at the counters were very warm
  3. Third Night: It was an ordeal: I ordered 1 Amrtsari Kulch + 1 malai Kofta + 1 Naan at around 9.30 pm. The Indian person at the counter told me that it will be ready in 20 mins. But I asked them to deliver it at my hotel which is 300 metres away from the restaurant. Till that moment everything was fine. I called at 21:54 to check the status of my order then someone from European descent picked the call and told m that order will be delivered after 45 mins of placing the order. So I waited and when I called again at 22:23 (53 mins after placing order). The same lady told me that 1) They dont have delivery boy right now so I have to wait 2) She told me that order was placed at 21:50 which was completely wrong and then indirectly told me that I am lying.

I FORGOT TO ADD. THEY TOOK THE MONEY FOR THE FOOD 17.42 EUROS. NEITHER DELIVERED FOOD AND NOR RETURNED MONEY. AND THE BEST PART IS THAT THE RESPONSE BELOW DO NOT CAPRURE THAT FACT.

This is not the kind of service we expect in a country like Greece, whose whole economy is based out of service sector.

There is always a way to accept mistake rather than pointing fingers at the customer.

I would have seriously rated this restaurant 5 out of 5 just for their in house dining. But for their delivery and pathetic customer service by non indian employee, I am giving...

We went to this restaurant after seeing the reviews on google, sadly, we expected much more yummy food since we went the day before to another Indian restaurant that has less rates and was perfect! I usually never give a feedback about restaurants because taste differs from one person to another, but this time it wasn’t only about the taste! We ordered similar dishes of the one that we tasted the day before but we were surprised by the amount of sugar added to the plates, we knew that it’s kind of sweet but we wasn’t expecting that amount of sugar usually it has the sweet taste from the dry fruits and not from adding loads of sugar! Second of all and the most important, we ordered boneless chicken that came raw and when we told the server she wanted to give us another plate but sadly it cut our appetite so we kindly told her that we will pay for the plate and no need to prepare another one. Unfortunately we couldn’t finish our plate because we weren’t sure about the hygiene of the restaurant especially after passing by the kitchen going to the wc i took a look and saw the disaster inside but a guy directly came to hide the view so we couldn’t eat anymore and after all, We paid for all dishes and the raw chicken as well! we aren’t arguing about the fact of paying but as professionals, you can’t make costumers pay for uncooked dish that is returned directly. I hope that this comment will help you to improve your...
