Impressive at a quick glance as one walks in, waiters and waitresses in black uniforms gliding about the outstanding monochromatic architectural space.
The menu looks appealing, with details of the provenance of different ingredients, glowingly described giving the impression of a high class restaurant.
The experience can be slightly different. I ordered a sandwich at €8. The ingredients looked positively delightful. The actuality was rather a contrast: the tiniest of sandwiches almost hiding on a corner of a plate. A starter perhaps if it truly appetising, but the fact that the rest of the plate has been filled with the contents of a big packet of crisps belies any pretence of class. Whatever the origin of the cheese and chicken slices — for that is all they were, sandwich slices — they weren’t particularly appetising. Their blandness would hardly temp a person who was near-starving. The price is roughly double what one would pay in any decent Athens sandwich shop for a truly tasty sandwich, fresher, and one that was a lot more than a couple of tiny mouthfuls.
Service was reasonably prompt considering the volume (peak period) and the view of the Acropolis is nice (but almost any rooftop restaurant in Athens has a decent view of the Acropolis).
The waitress comes over and sloshes some water in my glass, splashing it on the table in the process. No apologies, not even eye contact. Whoever designed the overall concept and execution of this restaurant was sadly not up to the job.
They should start again from scratch and deliver something, however modest, that is worthy of such a prestigious establishment as the great Acropoli Museum. A proper three-course a la carte lunch for instance, of good quality and appropriately priced, with seating numbers limited to the ability to prepare and serve it, cloth napkins and serving staff who make the customer feel like a proper diner rather than someone at a roadside cafe. A menu that describes the food honestly rather than fancy overblown phrases. If the food is good it sells itself. No amount of posturing can make up for tastelessness. The cafe downstairs could be expanded to provide standard quick lunches, and signal a real distinction to having a real restaurant to replace the current charade.
I hope they...

Cons: understaffed, we didn't get our food until almost an hour in
We came here after seeing the exhibits, thinking we'll have more than enough time to make it to our Airbnb in 3 hours. We wanted to sit outside because there was a nice breeze and the patio was shaded. The best part about this place is definitely the view you get of the Acropolis, I felt like I was in a movie. This was also our first day in Greece so we may have still been reeling from the flight and the splendor of the Parthenon.
After sitting, we were served water quickly, but the rest of the service was a nightmarishly slow. In America, I feel it's somewhat rude to motion to or call out to the wait staff unless they're looking at you or coming your way. Here, however, no one gave us a second glance. After 40 minutes of waiting, and seeing others seated after us place their orders before us, I decided to do as the Greeks do and call out to the wait staff to get our order in.
We put in our order, and got our food 20 minutes later. The food itself was pretty good, the fried bread and Feta cheese combo especially. We ordered a coke and it came in a cute custom bottle.
We finished eating, and this time I didn't make the same mistake of waiting for the staff to bring me the check and just called out to them right away, we got our check some 10 minutes later and got out of there. I don't think this is the staff's fault, there were like 4 of them, and two of them were exclusively bringing people water.
The food was relatively cheap, and tasted good too, but I'd highly recommend getting there off peak (we were there at noon!), Or going to a local place some...
Read moreStopped by to have a drink after visiting the museum. The atmosphere and location are great but my problem is with the service and how they treat their customers as stupid. I always drink my whiskey neat which means no ice no water just whiskey and I made this clear when I ordered, the waiter asked twice no ice and I repeated no ice please. To my surprise my whiskey arrived with a glass full of ice and a bucket full of ice on the side which I didn’t understand why?!!! I explained to the waiter that I ordered it neat. He took it and returned with just removing the ice and leaving the whiskey in the glass. I told him to ask the bartender to get me a glass of straight whiskey without ice. So he took it away and returned with the exact same glass because it was cold and sweaty as they just removed the ice. I was really upset because they ruined my mood instead of having a relaxing evening. I asked to speak with the supervisor who apologized and said it was a misunderstanding, so I decided to forget about having whiskey and ordered a beer instead. When it was time to pay the bill came higher than the price on the menu, when I complained the waiter brought a menu with higher prices than the menu I ordered from but when I confronted him he brought the original menu and said maybe I saw one of their older menus which makes me believe that this is a normal practice they use to take advantage of clients who don’t pay attention. So instead of going there to relax and enjoy the evening they ruined my mood by their pity practices. Be careful. They have two different menus with...
