It's a Village — Restaurant in Athens

I’m giving this café 5 stars, not only because I know the owner and staff personally, but also because I truly value what this place represents. Founded by locals who genuinely care about the neighborhood, it was the first café to open on St. George Square after the financial crisis. In its early days, it played a vital role in revitalizing the area, hosting art projects, music festivals, and other community events.

Although I’m no longer a regular—having moved out of the area—I still stop by occasionally for a coffee on the go or to grab one of their affordable pizzas. The food is simple and satisfying; highlights include their Greek chicken salad and a great selection of budget-friendly pizzas, ideal for students, young professionals, and anyone on a tight budget.

The atmosphere remains relaxed and welcoming. The staff, mostly young, are generally pleasant and do their best to accommodate guests, even offering help with seating when it gets crowded. I even celebrated a birthday there some years ago, which was a lovely experience.

Village is a very cool and vibrant spot, perfect for brunch or drinks in the heart of St George’s Square. The atmosphere is trendy and relaxed, blending well with the stylish vibe of the area. It’s usually quite busy, but you can still manage to find a place to sit, which adds to the lively ambience rather than detracting from it.

Their brunch menu is heavily focused on egg-based dishes. While these are well-prepared and tasty, I personally would’ve liked to see a bit more variety beyond eggs. On the plus side, their coffee specials are creative and their cocktail menu is worth exploring—great for a casual meet-up or weekend hangout.

Επισκέφτηκα το κατάστημα για ένα κρασί. Μαζί μου είχα δύο θερμούς εστία αφού πήγα ακριβώς μετά την εργασία μου. Έκανα το λάθος να τους ξεχάσω εκεί φεύγοντας.Οταν το αντιλήφθηκα (2 μέρες μετά) καλέσα αμέσως στο κατάστημα τους να ρωτήσω αν τυχόν τους έχουν βρει και είναι εκεί. Η απάντηση τους ήταν πως ναι τους είχαν βρει και ήταν εκεί. Τους ζήτησα αν μπορούν να τους κρατήσουν να μην πεταχθούν για κάποιες μέρες διότι ήμουν εκτός και δεν μπορούσα να περάσω να τους πάρω πίσω. Η κοπέλα στο τηλέφωνο με διαβεβαίωσε πως εννοείται θα τους κρατήσουν και δεν υπάρχει περίπτωση να πεταχθούν ή να τους πάρει κάποιος. Ερχόμαστε στην μέρα που πήγα να τους πάρω όπου δια μαγιάς είχαν εξαφανιστεί, δεν μπορούσαν να τους βρούνε κανένας σε ένα ολόκληρο μαγαζί δεν γνώριζε που είναι με διαβεβαίωναν ότι δεν τους πέταξαν φυσικά ή ότι δεν τους έχει πάρει κάποιος, απλά εξαφανίστηκαν δια μαγιάς. Το χειρότερο από όλα είναι η κοροϊδία που είχαν ως προς το πρόσωπο μου στην συνέχεια αφού με έπαιζαν μπαλάκι μου έλεγαν θα σας καλέσουμε, θα σας αποζημιώσουμε (πράγμα που ποτέ δεν έγινε) δεν τα πετάξαμε έπαιρνα κάθε μέρα τηλέφωνο και κάθε μέρα μου έλεγαν δεν είναι εδώ ο υπεύθυνος αφήστε το τηλέφωνο να σας καλέσει. Εν τελεί στο τελευταίο τηλεφώνημα μου είπαν ότι τα πέταξε ο υπεύθυνος, δηλαδή τόσες μέρες δεν το θυμόταν ότι τα πέταξε. Δεν θα συνέχιζα να τα ψάχνω πραγματικά και θα το καταλάβαινα ότι μπορεί να έγινε κάποιο λάθος αυτό όμως που με πείραξε ήταν η κοροϊδία σας στο τηλέφωνο. Είναι κρίμα θα μπορούσατε να είστε πιο σωστή. Κρίμα επίσης γιατί είναι πολύ ωραίο μαγαζί με ωραία προϊόντα και εξυπηρέτηση αλλά αν πάτε μεγάλη προσοχή μην ξεχάσετε κάτι γιατί δεν θα το...
