Lukumades in Athens, Greece, is a delightful spot that captures the essence of traditional Greek sweets with a modern twist. Located in the heart of the city, this popular dessert shop specializes in loukoumades, the classic Greek honey donuts that have been a favorite for generations. Upon entering Lukumades, you’re immediately greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly fried dough and sweet honey. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a contemporary design that complements the traditional treats on offer. The star of the show is, of course, the honey donuts. Served fresh and hot, these little golden bites of heaven are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Each donut is generously drizzled with honey, giving it a delightful sweetness that isn’t overpowering. The balance of flavors and textures is spot on, making every bite a satisfying experience. What sets Lukumades apart is the quality and consistency of their donuts. They are always served piping hot, ensuring that you get them at their absolute best. The service is timely and efficient, so you won’t have to wait long to indulge in these delicious treats. Lukumades offers a variety of toppings and flavors, allowing you to customize your donuts to your liking. Whether you stick with the classic honey or try something more adventurous, you’re in for a treat. In short, Lukumades is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. The combination of tradition, quality, and timely service makes it a standout dessert destination in Athens.

Before my trip to Athens I had seen a few videos on the places to eat, and this was on the list for trying the local dessert. The name of the shop is is named after the local dessert Lukumadez itself. They are hot fluffy deep fried doughs with a topping of ur choice. The authentic ones are with honey and cinnamon. As part of the Athens street food tour I got the chance of visiting this place. Our tour guide ordered the usual Lukumadez topped with Honey and Cinnamon and another one with Pistachio Praline. I personally liked the one with pistachio topped. The sauce was thick and very rich in taste. The lukumadez melted in our mouths. It was indeed delicious. If given a chance would like to try the one with chocolate praline. The doughs per se are not having a taste of their own unless it’s topped with a topping. The one with honey and cinnamon are milder in taste and less sweet. Would definitely recommend this place to try the Lukumadez in Athens. It’s a very popular place indeed and usually has a line.

Incredible! The hype is totally justified. I got the Pavlova flavor, which includes lukumades filled with strawberry praline filling, white chocolate, mini meringue, and strawberry sorbet (2 big scoops!). I highly recommend it, and make no mistake - one portion is more than enough for one person because they're quite sweet. The ice cream helped cut the sweetness. The lines for this place can be... super long. To avoid that, come shortly after they open up or around noon. In the afternoon hours, the wait to order is super long, and I can only imagine how long you have to wait for your treats. We came around noon, waited about 20 minutes after ordering. But so worth it! The staff is very nice and helpful too. 🥰

Went here for a dessert one night while in Atnens - awesome. We shared a box (2 people) and tbh it was more than enough. For me, the chocolate ones are way tooo sweet - but the pistachio tasted perfect. I liked the pistachio better than the salted caramel - we went for half and half. I would also recommend adding some sprinkles - we didn’t know we had to mention that (we thought it was included) and we regretted after 🤣 pistachio cream + pistachio nuts would have been perfection. I recommend this place, it’s nice inside, the staff is friendly and the lukumades always fresh. Would love to come back.

Classic delicious Greek dessert - Loukoumades. Doughnut like balls crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Made right in front of you. So many options for sweet toppings, fillings and even savory options such as ones that included toppings like feta or tomato sauce. Went for the Double chocolate with cookies and cream ice cream first try. Had to go back a second time to try the pistachio ice cream and praline. We chose the F**n Nuts. Unreal. Would recommend sharing one between two because the servings are generous and this way you can try more flavours.
