I went there yesterday night(22:00) with friends. We set around a table but one of my friend who is vegan got very bothered with the food smell inside, and we did not wanted to sit on the terrace since it was cold. So we decided to leave. We apologized and left. After going around and not finding any desired restaurant( its 22:15), we decided to go back to this same restaurant but another room(next building. we thought that food smell could have been less intense). When we got inside same weighted greeted us emphasizing that it was the same restaurant(which we knew already). Meanwhile we mentioned(told to waiter) that we left because of smell of food from the other room and this room actually was the same and we decided to sit on the terrace(neglecting the temperature outside). After sitting there for 10 minutes unattended(nobody from restaurant came to take an order or say anything) one of my friend went inside asking if we could order and …waiter started to give weird reasons why he would not be able to take an order from us. First was that kitchen was closing soon, then my friend asked if we could order drinks and eventually guy told us that he would not take any order from us and we had to leave because we were rude , saying that restaurant smelled.
Honestly… 😄😄😄 i was speechless. We have never been rude, or aggressive or anything, we just emphasized that friend did not liked smell of food(which is ok to have in restaurant if you ask me but my friend did nit like it) and they took it as an insulting thing and kick us out? This was a very weird experience and wanted to feedback. Obviously my friend(living in the same street a building away) who took us there was super frustrated as well and in sure she will never ever go...
Read moreWe went there on the weekend, 2 adults and 2 kids. Despite was almost empty the service was very slow (we just wanted something simple for the kids first). Nothing happened as requested but I guess that was because there was only 1 waiter, very polite I would say, that who had to run up and down to attend clients coming and their requests. We understood the difficulties of the waiter but we were enough patients to wait for the food we ordered. Something arrived and something got lost on the way from the kitchen to the table. (we guess somebody forgot some dish). After few times trying to catch the attention of the waiter for some water or bread, we felt was better "do it yourself" and we stranded up few time for getting few things we asked for but never coming at the table. Let's say a kind of self service was the winning strategy. The pick of the story was expecting good and tasty food as many reviews say but we ended up very disappointed: the food was one of the worst we tasted in Athens after many years living in the city, tasteless, even a simple feta on the salad felt a piece of plastic on the mouth. Not even 1 of the plate 5 orders was good enough to get leave as a good memory and raise up the statistic??? Weird! The bill was not cheap as we thought, but food not worth for what we pay for sure. Talking with other people who experiences that place few times, many said something unfortunately has changed recently and the place has lost its fame of a good taberna in the...
Read moreIt was one of the most enjoyable experiences in a Greek fish tavern at the center of Athens! The menu list was more than adequate while the variety of fish shown behind the glass window was certainly promising. We were 4 adults and picked both grilled and fried fish along with some side plates with cooked food and fried legumes. Everything was tasty, especially the grilled white seabreams. The owners, Anna and George, were friendly and they were more than willing to recommend us a good place nearby for desert. What was really surprising was the quite large variety of ouzo and tsipouro brands! We tried the rather obscure Primarolia tsipouro and it was really nice. Customer service was fast and discreet, although all tables were booked. I suggest pre-booking by telephone, especially on weekends. A really nice taverna with authentic, hard to find, fish in very reasonable prices for the quality of food it offers. A real gem hidden in a historical Athens...
