I visited Revolt Street Bar around 1 pm and ordered a beer. The first thing the waitress said to me was, “So you’re the kind of people that drink beer.” I was genuinely shocked by such an unnecessary, passive-aggressive remark. Let me be clear: I’m not a disrespectful tourist. I didn’t come to Greece just to check off landmarks or take photos, I came to understand and experience the real culture, beyond the surface. I chose Exarcheia precisely because I admire its social history and independent spirit. But what I encountered here wasn’t countercultural edge, it was just plain rudeness. And then when my friend brought a sandwich from somewhere else to eat at the table where we had already ordered at least 8 drinks, we were told that it is not permitted. I would understand that if they had food themselves but they did not.
When it was time to pay we wanted to split the bill by cards and they wouldn't let us do that either, only cash or one card. First time that has ever happened to me at a bar.
The waitress was very nice but this bar has very weird management/boss.
