Was excited to try this place since it's vegan and it was recommended to me by someone who had been a couple years ago... maybe it's since changed management and declined, I don't know, but I was quite disappointed. Plant-based food can be so delicious, and I've had a ton of it in Greece, just unfortunately not at Cookoomela.
The ingredients seemed fresh enough but they simply were not prepared in a tasty way. I ordered the Red Wrap; neither the mushrooms, potatoes, or sauce were very good (also the menu stated it came with avocado but there was none in my wrap). It's not a matter of having ordered the wrong wrap since the core ingredients (e.g. mushrooms, dips) used throughout the menu just didn't taste very good.
To be honest, I've had better vegan wraps modifying my own at regular souvlaki places. Hopefully they can find a talented cook to make the menu a tasty reality because I wish for every vegan business to succeed! Perhaps a better grill? More seasoning? There's so much potential!
I also think vegan places are held to higher standards because it's a common belief amongst non-vegans that they must sacrifice taste to eat vegan - which is not true - but mediocre places like this perpetuate that idea. I wouldn't bring a non-vegan here because they wouldn't be impressed, and I don't want to further the limited impression that vegan food can't be delicious. There is no need to make concessions on taste simply because something is vegan -- vegan food can be just as or more tasty than food from animal products.
Apologies to the owner below who took offense at my review instead of striving to improve his offerings to the public (which he presumably opened shop to cater to). I've had delicious grilled veggies that have not been cooked in animal fat the way the owner sadly implies is the only way to achieve...

All the wraps are incredibly good, absolutely delicious.
Of my friends, I am the only one vegan and they don’t usually try this type of food, but the owner, an amazing and friendly person, let them taste it, and they were instantly convinced by the flavours. This place is a miracle, I wish I had something like this in my town.
Needless to say, we went there during our stay in Athens (4 days in total) twice; we actually checked the place for a 3rd time, but there were some protests and people were out in the streets, especially owners of local businesses.
Anyway, I wanted (and was not possible😭) to try the entire menu, but if the 1st time we bought each one wrap, the 2nd time I made sure I buy 2.
Great great food, can’t recommend it enough, EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT VEGAN. It would be a loss to miss on those amazing flavour combinations.
To be honest, I have a personal quest to try out everything from the menu and this is already one of my top 3 favourite places in Athens (among Big Bar and Ble Papagalos).
Okay, I wrote so much because I love their food and got with the flow of enthusiasm.
But I mean it, just try it and you’ll...
Read moreSO GOOD! LITERALLY SOME OF THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD AND ITS ONE OF THE ONLY VEGAN PLACES IVE FOUND IN GREECE!! I'm not even vegan but I came with a friend who's vegetarian, and I was blown away. The food here was some of the best I'd had in my entire time in Greece (which has been a while now), and as a meat-eater, I was impressed their souvlaki was better than any other I'd had as of yet. It's a very tiny place with only two tables right outside of the establishment for those hoping to eat there, but the owner is kind and literally sits in a chair outside the place just in case you want to ask him for water or anything. Although it's so small, they bring everything to you at your table. Also, the prices are pretty good! The ingredients are fresh and the food is, again, delicious. One of the only places I've found in Greece that serves avocado that IS just ripe and tastes amazing. I highly recommend the "yellow," but my friend tried the veggie burger and she also adored it, so I suspect that every item on the menu...
